| My Laika's 11 weeks old. And I've been trying to potty train her and crate train her which is proving itself pretty difficult but she's getting there. They're is a problem though.
Laika has been pooping WAY too much in a day almost 3 times and she usually ends up pooping inside the house because she can be hours outside and once she's inside she poops right away. Is that normal? Not to mention her poop smells terrible, just really bad. And half of the time it's super soft and wet. She is finally getting her shots tomorrow morning, and I was wondering if that could be a cause of the soft smelly frequent stool?
Another issue, she tends to get into the cat food, and the other dogs foods, PLUS her food which means she's mixing all these different dog foods, which I feel is something else that's causing her to have the soft stool. I try to feed her 3 times a day. |

| What food are you feeding her?? How much food are you feeding her?? Loose stools are not normal and are commonly caused by food related issues. The different kinds of food she is eating could definitely be a contributing factor. Can you not put this food up so she can't get to it?? Or baby gate her away from these areas?? Because if it's on the floor...she's going to eat it.
Puppies go to the bathroom.. a lot. They cannot hold any kind of movement for very long, so the amount she is pooping is pretty normal. My two adults poop 2/3 times a day. She should be taken outside at least every hour- two hours at this age. Sheba was let out to pee/poop every 30 mins- half an hour. Completely normal. |

| The breeder was feeding her beneful, so I've been trying to transition her food to Blue buffalo wilderness puppy food. But with her eating all these different dog foods she's probably getting diarrhea. As soon as I leave petco tomorrow, I'm heading out to buy a gate, and set up her own personal corner in the house to put her in while I feed my other dogs. Than I'll have to remove all the other dog foods...the cat food I'll have to find a new place for.
And I'm glad the amount she's pooping is normal I was getting kinda worried. |

| i had my puppy on blue buffalo wilderness puppy and he had really bad smelling poop, as in i could be standing 3 feet away outside and smell it bad. she also always had semi soft poop also.
i've since swapped her over to Merrick and her poop doesn't smell as bad and is all firm now. some huskies don't do well on chicken and i think that my Maya didn't do good on chicken and i think that is why she didn't do well on the blue buffalo |

| I would take a fresh fecal sample with you to the vet, just in case its more than the food.
I tried Murphy on Blue as well, and she didn't do super well on it. I know pots of dogs on it and its a good food, just not for everyone! |

| Ghost did fine on Blue Wilderness puppy, but it is chicken based and a lot of dogs have issues with chicken based foods, including our Cocker Spaniel. I would get a small bag of a non-chicken based grain free food and see how she does on that. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | For the price of Blue, you may want to Consider Acana it's not a huge price difference |

| We found that blue wilderness had too much protein for harry. We do a 50/50 mix of blue wilderness and regular blue. Still occasional problems so we may transition to 30/70 mix or find a lower protein brand.
We also mixed in a bit of pumpkin paste when harry got a stomach bug (drank out of a stagnant pond). If its just soft, its more likely too much protein and not a major issue. If its liquid, use some pumpkin paste and make sure theres plenty of water until the dog is feeling better.
Some dogs just dont have the stomach for the higher end dog foods. |

| Thanks for the advice guys! I've been keeping a close eye on her when she uses the bathroom. And It hasn't been as wet as it was, it's a bit more firm, Still a little smelly. But she's responding well. And I've been feeding her in a separate room as well so she doesn't get into the other dogs foods. We'll see how that works out in the next few days. I don't think it's a food problem, cause she doesn't seem sick from it. I just feel it was the mixing of the foods she was eating because she was getting into the cat food as well as the adult dog's good. If it still continues to smell bad i'll take a trip to the vet, and maybe get her into a lamb and rice dog food diet, because that's what we feed our american bulldog, and his stool never smells, and is always pretty firm, never any diarrhea. We'll see how it works out! |

| Just a FYI - some Huskies don't do well with rice. You can try a grain free food such as Taste of the Wild which is cheaper than Blue. |

| I had the same problem with Loki, I switched him to First mate pacific fish and his poops are usually firm now but sometimes still smelly, but that could be due to his cookies they have chicken in them. |

| Yeah, you should definitely always feed grain free. ALWAYS buy grain free.
Use sites such as www.dogfoodscoops.com and www.dogfoodadvisor.com when searching for a food brand to feed. Pick a 4-5 star rated dog food. |
