| Well my Husband and I bought our first house just about a year ago and then the when are we getting a dog started and I kept telling him we were not ready yet, the back yard is nothing but dirt and weeds, then I said we would get a dog after our wedding in May, we ended up with one sooner. Well we decided on a husky since his childhood dog was a husky German shepherd mix and my dad's mom used to raise huskies so we started looking into them, oh and we live in Colorado and love the winter and out doors so we felt is was a good match. I was on craigslist looking up huskies that people were trying to find new homes for and I saw a post for Sierra and best of all they were not asking any money for her just a good home. I called and found out someone called b4 me . Well like 2 weeks later I get a call from the lady that had Sierra and told me the home was not a good fit and they were going to pick her up and wanted to know if we were still looking for a dog, I said YES! The lady was a breeder and rescued Sierra from another breeder and had been to a few homes before ours. The problem with Sierra was she was used for breading and the breeder was a man and would abuse her verbally and not sure what else so she has a problem with men and trusting them. We went to meet her and low and behold she was not that afraid of my husband Ken, the lady said it was a good sign and we took her home on Feb 22 2009. She still has some problems with Ken, like staying in her cage when im not home even though she is not locked in it, will not go with him, will bark at him if he is messing around with Jack. If I am home she does fine with him, it is something we are working on and she is getting better over time. Sierra is AKC and turned 6 on March 3, we got her a friend Jack in March, will write about him in another post. I love her to death she is a huge fur ball and has not blown her coat yet so im am prepared for the worse! She likes to drink out of her water dish with both front feet in the dish it is funny, we bought them a kiddy pool to play in this summer. We are trying to figure out what there first hike will be this summer.

| She is a fur ball and we have had her on a diet and have gotten her down to just under 50lbs the vet thought she was over weight untill she started feeling around and sad no she was fine. beleive it or not her and Jack are about the same weight but he is taller then her. will have to get a pic of them standing next to each other it is kind of funny! |
