| I haven't been on these forums for a few months(I'm not sure if any of you remember be, but I posted when I adopted my husky King from the shelter a while back), but I had to post an incident that happened at the dog park today.
So I had finally managed to get my girlfriend to come to the dog park with me. So we go, and when we walk into the gate I notice this lady giving King and me funny looks. I just kinda brush it off, I'm not really the type of guy you'd see at the dog park, I guess. So I walk in with King still on the leash, let him sniff around a little bit before I let him off. The instant i let him off he starts running around and playing with the other dogs, and then the lady who was giving us strange looks comes marching up, telling me that aggressive dogs aren't allowed in. After I inform her that he's not at all aggressive, she then goes to say that "all huskies are aggressive", just like pitbulls. At that point I'm dumbfounded, and then she proceeded to run her mouth with a bunch of bs. So we get into a bit of a "heated debate", and at some point my girlfriend intervenes, and then this lady has the nerve to yell some mean stuff at her(this lady needed her mouth washed out with soap). At that point we were both done, so I hooked the leash back on, hopped in the car and left, both angry and my girlfriend was near tears. I don't care how badly she spoke to me, but that woman really had no right to talk to my girlfriend that way. This all happened in a span of about 15 minutes.
I swear to god, the nerve of some people.

| Wow you're a strong man, I would've popped her in the mouth had I been a woman. There's like she's more of the aggressive b*tch rather than your pup King. Sometimes you just have to put your earplugs in and tone out the annoying ones. I hope everything is better for you and your girlfriend. |

| Sorry this happened to you. I'm noticing too some with my puppy. Unfortunately, even their play style gets interpreted wrong and people squirm with how he plays at puppy class. The trainer asked if he plays with other Huskies a lot ( he does). She said she could tell and that versatility isn't a Husky's strong suit too often. She is determined to get him to play like a puppy and not a Husky all the time, and it works The breed does get a bad rap it's true. Part of why I am so set on making a good ambassador example outta my little one. Hope it gets better for you. |

| Wow, some people! I had a guy basically tell us to take our aggressive dog home after his dog attacked me and my dog pulled him off of me without drawing blood. My knee was really torn up and the guy disappeared before anyone could get his info or his dogs info. That was the last time we went to a dog park, we moved out to our current house and built our own dog park, it's still a work in progress but we're really excited about the future plans. |

| I love dog parks, but my 2 older dogs don't get along nice with strange dogs. And my wulfy dog got attacked 3 weeks in a row, so we stopped going altogether. Week 1 was an on-leash boxer inside the off-leash dog park. That's the first sign that something is wrong with that dog, especially when I overheard the husband say to the wife quietly "let's try it" as they disconnected the lead. Sure enough, that dog went straight for my boy and tore into him. Week 2 was a very similar incident with another boxer, again kept on a leash inside the fence of an off-lead park. Neither couple apologized to me for their dog attacking Beowulf.
Week 3 was a family that brought their entire pack in with them: 2 old, fat Rottweilers and a Sibe. The 2 Rotts double-teamed and tried to mount/hump my boy, and right as he was about to go SUPER SAIYAN (Dragonball Z reference) on them, I was able to grab him so he didn't attack back. The Sibe jumped in, and so did a 3rd gigantic Rottweiler owned by someone else. All hell broke loose. Every dog in the dog park started attacking the closest dog near it. I've never seen anything like that in my life. It was like, suddenly, 30 dogs were in a barroom brawl. I just clung on to my pup and beat all of the big dogs away from him until their owners could regain control. The pack's owners weren't watching their dogs when it all started, so I let them know that their Rotts tried to mount my boy, and they blew it off with a "it happens" snide remark.
So that was the straw that broke this camel's back. Dog parks were great when my dogs were pups. Now that they're usually one of the biggest dogs in the park, and are mature, it never turns out good. I think the dog parks are what turned my first 2 into dog aggressive dogs, as they weren't initially until other dogs started attacking them. I didn't want the same thing to happen with Beowulf.
Anyways, when I went to dog parks, I would ignore the humans and just play with all of the dogs. The humans at most dog parks were too much drama, or they wouldn't watch their dogs and let them poop all over the place without picking it up. Drives me crazy. The humans weren't there for their dogs. They were there to socialize with other humans. A lot of "crazies" frequent dog parks. Sounds like you ran into one. I would've ignored her and just walked away, or told her that she could leave if she didn't want to be around "aggressive" breeds/dogs. I wouldn't have wasted my time defending my dog or arguing with her, nor would I have left if I just arrived. Or you could've said "he's not a husky, he's a WOLF!!!" Hahahaha. No, 2 wrongs don't make a right, but it sure would be funny.
Once I realized that dog parks were becoming more stressful on me and less fun is when I stopped going. I took it as a sign. I went there to enjoy myself by watching my dog play, and by playing with other dogs, but the drama started to outweigh the good times. No more dog parks for us.
Most dog parks have a 2 gate system, so you can unhook your dog from its lead before you open the 2nd gate to get inside the main part. Not sure if your park is like this. But it was a pet peeve of mine when someone would bring a dog inside the main part and then keep it on lead, even if just for a few minutes to "test the water." Whenever a new dog enters the park, the dogs do a meet and greet and somewhat establish a new pack order. If there's any alphas in there, a dog can either fight or flight. If it's stuck on a leash, it can't flight, so it only has 1 option and that's to fight. Other dogs can sense this and it could escalate. Hopefully most people who bring their dog to a dog park don't have aggressive dogs, but the world is full of irresonsible dog owners who sometimes get off on their dog being "the boss" at a park. It's sad. But please try to take your dog off lead before entering the main area if at all possible!
Hope you can return and not have issues next time. Dog parks are great for socializing your pup, especially when every dog plays nice (and every owner too!). Good luck! |

I had an Ex that was like that. He had a pit that he would do everything he could to get him stronger, wouldn't fix him, and loved seeing him assert his dominance over anything that moved. He would get into it with my dog who would just be trying to get away. No wonder he's an EX. He wasn't mentally stable anyways..and he's the type that gives certain breeds a bad name. |

LOL All jokes aside though (not really), I would have told the lady, "Look, there aren't any rules about huskies not being allowed in here. If you have a problem, I would kindly hold the gate open for you to walk out." In my head, I'd be like, ")(#@&$)%*$#(%*#@&$)#@$@#(, you #)($#@$)(*@#$^(*&@$" (or something along those lines). |

| It is situations like this that I avoid the dog park in my area, and just go to the husky meetups that are held every 5 weeks. I don't want to get into an altercation with someone. I have a tendency to lose my temper every now and then. I would have lost it in the situation you went through. Some people are just plain jerks. One bad egg gives the whole breed a bad stereo type. No one bothers to look into it and see if it's truthful either. So they just assume all huskies are aggressive. Stupid. Lucian is a love bug. He loves people, and other dogs. |

| I was just at the park the other day. My girl, and 3 other huskies were running around, romping like huskies will. (I actually love that huskies kinda group together, it looks really cool lol). Anyways, there was one husky there named Sydney who clearly wanted to dominate everything. He had a bit of a low growl, but other than that didnt appear menacing at all. He just wanted to be the boss. Keeonah likes to run around all the action, but never instigates anything. The lady didn't know I had a husky, and started talking mad s*** about how "all the huskies gang up on other poor dogs like hers, cause they don't know how to play." Her dog took off running and all the huskies gave chase, and she FLIPPED OUT, like we actually had a pack of ravenous wolves unleashed on her dog. If there had been a behaviorist near by, they could have nicely informed her that her dog was having the time of its life lol. |

Hope it gets better for you. My question is "how do huskies play with other huskies?" I only have Ghost and he never plays with other huskies, except if he meets one during his walkings, and that almost never happens. I'm curious of how much of a difference it is? |

| In one word, rough. They run chase, wrestle, tackle, sometimes get vocal. Uneducated people tend to look at you with this super freaked out expression like "AREN'T YOU GOING TO DO SOMETHING!?". But, seconds later they are done and calmed down and smiling like nothing happened. - Me & Ghost wrote:

I'm curious of how much of a difference it is? Exactly, rough. Kinda violent looking even. Very mouthy in the verbal and physical sense and lots of play biting and rough vocalizations. I've never seen any other puppy play with Link this way except other Huskies. Learning versatile play is possible but it is a tough lesson for him to learn. |

| Korra and Link were in my backyard playing and one of Link's best buds, Oozie a Labradoodle, came out to use the yard and when he tried to play his human said: "okay Oozie, not today they are playing too rough. Oozie come on, come on, come on Oozie, Oozie come...........................Oozie.......come........." Oozie wanted some but his human was horrified. Oozie is super hyperactive and very dominant with Link even. He checks Link very well and they have a good time. But Link and Korra were too much for the human to stomach. They will lead each other around by the lip, scruff, skin......with constant chimpanzee sounds and then they are drinking water from the same bowl together and sharing treats.

LOL SO TRUE, probably the most annoying part of the show, 2 hours worth of screaming to transform and about 10 minutes worth of fighting haha. All of this talk about huskies playing just makes me want to search for people with huskies in my area. I've seen only 2 out of the whole time i've had Cain and the owner won't take them to the park He only takes them on walks, but thats his choice I won't pressure him into taking them to play with Cain. |

I have 2 dogs, Meeka (Sibe) and Cookie. If anyone has been to Food Advisor website, ont he splash page there is a picture of a small dog. Well my cookie looks identical except brown and black spots. Anyone know that breed type? Vet has her listed as a chihuaha mix, doesnt look anything like a chihuahua to me. Anyways, as I got both around the same age and time they rough play all the time. Initially all my friends think they are fighting but of course I know better. I swear sometimes I think that THEY think they are littermates. |

| Funny, my mixed breed dog is really calm and submissive. She is 6 years old. However, she plays exactly how you all describe "husky play". She is not husky and never had a husky sibling until a year ago. Strange, but she loves playing that way. The lab behind us and the labradoodle mongrel next to us both seem to want to jump in on the fun if the fence weren't there |
