I didn't see what happened, I was talking to another husky owner, but Korra starts screaming and runs over, a blue heeler on her tail. So of course some random fatty black lab runs over to pin Korra down. Anyways, we ended it as fast as it started. I had blood on my hand, but one of Korra's baby teeth was in the dirt so I shrugged and figured she was being dramatic again. Until I realized puppy had blood on her face. My feeling is that it was over the other dog's ball, she doesn't really have a ball thing- but she loves playing keep away. The other owner didn't say anything, kinda shrugged. Anyways, I put peroxide on it. It doesn't look too bad and doesn't bug her a lot. Anything to look out for? Swelling, redness, right? I'll take her to the vet tomorrow morning to have a vet tech take a look, she's sorta whimpery, not sure if that's the puncture or my pot pie though. It seems kinda swollen. It's clean and done bleeding at least. Aw, puppy..

Poor pup, I took my dogs to the vet once for a puncture would and $60 later it wasn't worth it. If you just keep it clean you can save yourself a hefty vet bill.

These were the puncture wounds from last year on Zoey from my friends Malamute I shaved the area, and kept it clean and put neosporin on it daily, and it healed within the month

Ouch! The punctures and that vet bill. I'll put neosporin on there are keep it clean. My last girl couldn't care less about playing with other dogs and therefore never got scratches or punctures. It's really not that bad looking but I don't have anything to compare it to, I'm probably being helicopter mom again..sigh.

LOL don't worry I was the first time Zoey got attacked at the park. They just gave me a antibiotic cream and charged me $50 for the visit and $20 for the meds, ridiculous. Learned my lesson lol

Jeeze. I might have a vet tech take a look if it stays swollen, or maybe when she gets her blood work for spay on Friday. So not paying for an appointment to have her boo-boo poked at..

I've seen a whole lot worse heal on it's own just fine. I would just keep an eye out for infection. My old dog Samantha had been bit several times, poor thing. Only time I ever took her to the vet was when one wound got infected, and the other time she had a big gash that required stitches.

Do no use peroxide on open cuts! It kills off the new cells trying to form, wash it out with warm water to clean it up and use neosporin on it. If it swells use an icepack. Since u have a visit fri just have them recheck it then. Hope she is feeling better today, it happens to just about all our dogs at least once _________________

Thanks for the tip Jennifer I did use it..but in the future I won't! She's a-ok, it's still kinda swollen but she's such a champ. Trying the eat the ice though..lol.. Suprised it didn't happen sooner because she can be a relentless brat sometimes.

I'm sorry to hear about Korra!! Hope she is ok. Rue got bit by a homeless man's pit bull at the dog park and I cleaned it up and it's just a little scabbed over now healing. He was quiet the drama queen about it. Hope she is ok
