Well Karli's only 6 months old so she hasn't quite grown into yet, but yes her tail is a bit longer than it should be. I'm hoping she grows into it!

I think they all go through "stages" where they look disproportionate in one way or another, haha. I was just commenting the other day that Loki's tail looks a bit too long.

I've noticed! I guess it fits the Sibe personality well Mischievous and all that. Though, I almost named my Loki, Apollo. I decided to go with Loki because it fits well with Luka, but now that it appears Loki is going to be huge, I kind of want to change it to Apollo, haha. Oh well. It can be his middle name!

I let my sons name all my dogs. The lab is Ruby, shes a chocolate and has some red in the sun so Ruby lol, Balon is named after a Game of Thrones character, and Loki, well you know that one

I wish I had a picture of Lola's tail. It is long. The color pattern is just like Maya's with the dark mark and white tip.

Yep all three of my girls have that dark mark, i believe all huskies have it. It marks a scent gland on wolves or something, i'm not a very technical person so all i know is it's normal.

Aww they are so pretty! Balons tail is long too when you pull it straight down, he has a pretty snapped tail so mostly it's carried tightly curled to his back and one side, I know its a fault but it looks adorable on him lol. And he has a dark mark on his tail as well!

The dark mark is an indication of a pre-caudal gland. Not all huskies have it, but it's not uncommon either.

Crispin's tail is super long. We just always assumed it was because he's a GSD mix.

Thanks! Sophie and Kay's tails are snapped and Maya's is carried to the side but doesn't lay on her back like Kay and Sophie's. Sophie's tail almost touched the ground when she was standing as a pup.

Actually, all purebred huskies will have that mark on their tail..it just won't be as apparent in a dark dog but even my sale girl has a prominent mark. It's a trait of the purebred siberian.

My whites don't, and they're purebred. Maybe their marks are white!

There marks would be white. Just as you wouldn't see them in a black dog.

Huskies and wolves share this trait...the gland is used as a marking too to release pheromones.

I'm confused now. If we look at white wolves the pre-caudal marker is still black. Does anyone with a red husky have one with a pre-caudal gland mark?

If you look Abby's two do.

A Pre-Caudal marking can be black, red, beige, white or any number of colors. It can be obvious or not.

Sophie, hers is kinda hard to see.
