| Last night I began the switch to raw. I was thawing some chicken thighs out and trying to pull them apart, one went flying and Bella grabbed it right away. Figuring it was her's now anyway I let her into her crate and she nommed it like nothing I've ever seen. This morning she was pretty happy and no vomitting. With this kind of success now I'm just trying to find cheaper places to buy the meat. I do have pics and I will be posting them tonight. |

| A friend of mine told me she buy's her meat for her Poodle at Hispanic markets, because they tend to be cheaper. I'm not sure how true that is, but figured it was worth checking out. |

| Bella is doing great on the new diet. I got some chicken gizzard and heart and she tore right into them. I'm wondering if gizzard counts as a secreting organ or not? If not I need to put a stronger emphasis on finding some. I thought I had seen some kidneys at a couple grocery stores but apparently I was wrong. |

| Gizzard is fed as meat, nor organ. Heart is also rich meat.
Organs we mostly use are liver and kidneys. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| ok, I've found liver np but I'm seeing you should do half and half liver/kidneys is that accurate or am I just misreading something?. I'm ready to start giving some organ since Bella's taking to the raw diet like she was made for it. My kitty's even getting in on the action. I gave her one of the gizzard pieces as I was splitting up the pieces between her meals for next week and she nabbed one and nommed it pretty quick. |

| I would hold off just a tad. Organ meats are rich little buggars and can/do easily cause cannon butt!! Something that isn't fun to clean!!
Eventually you aim for 50/50 (of the 10% whole) to be those organs. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! |

| It doesn't have to be half liver and half kidney.
Of the 10% liver you should be feeding 5% liver and 5% of other secreting organs, the other secreting organ doesn't have to be kidney, it can also include stuff like pancreas, spleen, thymus, and brain. Kidney is more commonly used because it is more readily available to most but you have other options that would be beneficial to incorporate every now and then if possible. Feeding some whole prey animals would help get some of those harder to source secreting organs factored in. _________________ |

| Another random question, I got a whole cornish hen and when I was splitting it there was a bag of what I assume are organs but I can't find out what types of organs. I've been googling like it's my job but I haven't figured out the magic sequence. Anyone know where I could find this info or if it's definately all the organs... the bag just barely fit in the bird if that matters. |

| Poultry Giblets (the organs that come inside the bird) consist of 1 liver, 1 heart, 2 gizzards. |
