| Cryptorchidism is a problem in our breed. Please let the breeder know if it doesn't fall. |

| Will do Megan, thanks. Is it a genetic problem? (I had to look up what it was, but noted ) |

| Nanook down in Arizona was born the same day as Link and he has only one fallen as well. Good to know it is a breed issue. Thanks so much.
I'll email her now and see if she has any word on his 3 brothers.

| A lot of times, you can tell by the lines if its a possibility. Crain dogs produce it more than others and if you match up two carriers, it happens. Not something for y to worry about with li though...but is neuter may cost more. |

| Yeah, our vet said that the procedure is slightly more complicated and a bit pricier.
So does this condition affect hormone secretion or have any notable effects other than aesthetically in the scrotum? |

| It's more about where the testicle is located...Kevin's Steve had this issue, and he was from a big name dog...and it was wrapped around his kidney |

| There are massage techniques you can do to help the second testicle drop- providing you can feel both in the scrotum. Your vet should have been able to show you what to look for and how to do this. At this age it is not uncommon for the testicles to yo-yo, so be checking every day. If you see the second testicle you can massage it downward toward the scrotum to ensure there is enough length in the chord for it to fully descend. Between 3-6 months the ring will close, and/or the testicle will become too large to pass through the ring that is when the surgery becomes more expensive. |

| Yikes, that's a ways away. Ok, well I'm taking him in Tuesday for a quick pick up and I'll have her check him again. |

| That's interesting Lani because at 8 weeks the vet was sure the left one was dropped only, then this week at 11 weeks it was the right one. She did say she could feel the one that wasn't dropped into the scrotum, so sounds like that's good news.
Thanks for the message. I'll see if I can locate it myself. He is napping now after his first bath, I wonder if I should bother him by messaging his testicles...... |

| For the best results you should massage daily- gently massage them down toward the sack. Best preformed with the pup on his back like a tummy rub- |

| Megan and/or Lani, while I got you here, what's the story with the black spot on their tails? Is it on every Husky? |

| On every husky. It marks the pre-caudal gland, which releases pheromones. It's a marking tactic. Pure bred huskies and wolves have them. Even the whites, blacks and dilute reds..thought it may not be obvious |

| That's essentially what Rhia said. But it doesn't function in Huskies, right? Link's is so distinct. It is the darkest spot on his entire coat. |

| That would be correct, the 'wolf spot' may be there on the tail but it is not a functional scent gland in domestic dogs (with the exception of the Rhodesian Ridgeback). |
