Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

What treats do you give you puppy during training?

My 8 yr old is really picky about what she will be giving her pup so I told her I would ask. It took her 30 minutes the other day just to pick out one small bag. She could turn it over and if it was made in China is was an instant NO! If it was a USA product she would read all the ingredients, anything that had sugar it in went back on the shelf. We picked up a bag of food (the same the breeder is feeding our pup) and my daughter even had to read that to make sure the breeder was giving her the right stuff. lol

I use Puperoni and Canine Carry-Outs mostly, but I'll buy better treats when they're on sale.

i go with the bill jack, little jacks, small dog traning treats.. they are made in USA and i didnt see any sugar in it lol.. and i like them cause they are small and i dont have to break them before giving koda one for training..i also like that they are soft and moist.. the dry hard treats even if small, were hard for koda to eat fast which made training hard.. i had to wait litterally 3minutes before i tried the trick again

I buy TOTW dry food for day to day use.

I make my own for training. Smile

I have a dehydrator - cost me £35 from Amazon. And I pick up reduced meats and offal from the supermarkets and wash the excess blood off, cut up into bite sized pieces and stick it in the dehydrator for as long as it takes Smile

It also does fruit for my small furries too so it's fab Very Happy

I use Zukes mini training treats, they're 3cal so perfect for puppies and small dogs. They come in a variety of flavored and are soft treats. I also use pet Botanics mini training treats, which are a great price, and 1/2cal each, so same deal-they can have lots. String cheese is a good one for high value treats. Usually I'll just use kibble if we're not training anywhere distracting Smile

I buy Pet Botanics mini training rewards, only 1/2 calorie per treat and also buy Gentle Leader beef liver training treats that I break in half. They are made of natural ingredients and have no preservatives in them. Both are made in the USA Smile
