| I usually stock up on these for training treats . Especially when Petco has the $30 off $100 promo on https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/gimborn-pro-treat-freeze-dried-beef-liver-treats |

| Cynthia for a lot of us older folks, the normal dog food was whatever was left over at the table after a meal (part of my growing up was on a farm.) So, unless the dog was well trained and most house dogs on a farm are, any time human food came out the dog knew he was eventually going to get fed.
Fast forward 50 years or so ... the quality of processed dog food has improved immensely. The processed treats - that were unheard of in my growing up days - has become a billion dollar business.
Most of the "don't feed human food" pertains to my generation - except that a lot of younger people feed table scraps as well and don't realize the disservice they do to their pets. Feeding table scraps basically leads to a dog who begs while you're eating - an irritation bar none!
Taking some chicken and slicing it to use for a treat - and maybe roasting or frying it so it's dryer and more manageable is fine. In fact, probably better than many processed treats.
What I use for training is freeze dried liver - you can get it at most any pet store or here's one from Chewy as an example. All of my dogs love them. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| There is a time and a place for table scraps. Mine get people food but never from our plates and it isn't usually what we ate that night. We tend to season table food and that isn't so healthy for our pets. Bits of plain chicken, dehydrated liver, green beans or peas can all be used for training. If you have a dehydrator you can look at dehydrating other things like banana, apple slices, kale leaves to make them easier and cleaner to use. I like to use liver as well. It has a high value for mine so they pay extra attention while other treats like crunchy treats might not hold their attention as well. _________________ |

| thank you all so much! I want to try and teach her that its ok to stay in our master bathroom and not scream to high heaven when its time for her dinner! Our older dogs are not to keen on sharing their dinner lol She does get fed in there for her safety. |

| I used raw baby carrots for training treats for my girl when I first got her and she loved those as well as the freeze dried chicken. Weird puppy lol! I agree with the freeze dried beef liver treats as well. I also have used freeze dried fish as treats that you can find in small bags sometimes depending on where you go. And most huskies that I've ever met love fish. |
