| When you get meat, how long do you generally freeze it for before you give it to your husky? I know most bacteria does not die from being frozen, only rendered inactive or stops the growth. |

| If you freeze it long enough, the bacteria will die. How long I freeze food depends on the source. Most of the meat I buy is human grade from supermarkets so I really don't need to freeze it at all. However I have such a stockpile of meat already, and I buy in bulk, that I always freeze so that I use my older meat first. Stuff from less than pristine markets I might freeze longer, like a full week, before using. The same goes for items like meat obtained from wild animals, for example those hunted/caught/farm raised (not store bought).
I have so much meat though that everything is frozen for weeks, not by necessity, before I can even get around to it. _________________ |

| I do the same as Val I buy a ton of meat at a time and it will stay in the freezer until I get around to give it to them. I don't go by any certain time it has to stay in the freezer. |

| Same here! When I first started, I bought the meat and left it in the freezer for 72 hours before I started feeding Callie raw. Now I'm usually restocking long before she's out of meals. With the variety of meats you'll feed, it should be easy. Like I won't buy just pork chops and then feed just pork chops. I usually buy three different meats during any given restocking trip, divide them up, and toss them in the freezer. Then whatever I pull out is what she gets the next day. |

| If you do end up leaving meat in the freezer for a few weeks, I would recommend getting a Food Saver (vacuum pack). It is an investment, however, it will allow your meat (or whatever food you freeze) to last longer. Or, use freezer ziploc bags and take as much air out as you can so they do not get freezer burned. Vacuum packed frozen meat will last 8-12 months in the freezer and cheese will last a couple of months in the fridge! _________________ |
