2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Hello I wasn't sure where to post this but I need some advice about my husky and his toy protection, I guess you would call it? I have a ten mth old and he is VERY gentle and sweet with her never growls lets her pet and crawl all over him. doesn't mind at all, but when it comes to his squeaky toy and bone he is very selfish, I can walk over and pick up his toy or bone and he is fine but if she even crawls in the same direction he runs picks up his toys and moves them, he doesn't growl he just doesn't want her near them the other day he even layed on top of his toy and kept his bone in his mouth so she couldn't get it, it doesn't even matter if he is near or playing with his toys if he sees her coming near he runs and gets them...my question is even though he inst aggressive should I put a stop to this behavior?

The answer is yes... I'll try and write more later, but today is a busy day...

One thing you can start to try is to teach Mika that your daughter's approach is always positive. Keep treats on you at all times. Anytime your daughter enters a room with Mika, give him a treat. Anytime she moves towards him, give him a treat. Another thing you can do is everytime your daughter enters the room with him, give him one of his toys... alternate between giving the two. DO NOT reward his guarding by giving him a treat, but start to associate her with positive things always. This should help for now, and when I have some time, I can write some more Smile

It's good that he's not aggressive. Nipping it in the bud now will keep it that way though Smile You have time and it will take a bit of work and consistency, but you should be able to train it out of him.

You can correct him for sure if he starts to guard, but try to treat him before he gets to that point if you can Smile

okay I will defidently try that. My husband isnt worried about it but I dont want it to cause him anxiety and stress him out because he thinks she is going to take his toys and even though he is gentle now I dont want him to one day snap on her.
