So Heather and i moved to Mebane in a 1200 sq ft apartment to get out from under my Grandparents. This is a big change from having a big house and 10 arces and Roxy isnt acting herself. She paces like crazy and Howls off and on at me all day Not to mention she goes to the door and wants out every 10-15 mins and believe it or not she actually pees every time i take her. Im thinking that she is just nervous and not adjusted to a new life style. Also being inside is not a new thing for her she layed around our previous place all day but not here.

Any input?

yea i think your right brandon...you can always bring her to our house even when we are not home and let her run...just let us know tho so wont nobody call the law LOL but give her some time she will be ok

More than likely she's just nervous settling into a new place. Koda, who has been taken everywhere with us, always takes a few days (or sometimes even a week) to settle in properly to a new environment. During this time, all rules of housetraining are out the window

She also picks up on your senses. If you're worried or stressed about the move and its effect on her, she's likely a little agitated and will probably settle down once you do

Apartments are not a problem. You'll find a way to let her run

Update! Roxy has chilled out alot the past couple days. Weird thing is she is still very very talkative Howling, groaning, moaning. Maybe she is made at me and is telling me what for haha

So it seemed as if Roxy was adapting well to the new place but now all of a sudden she has begun to piss and poo in the spare bedroom

Note she has never done this before

She's just adjusting. I think I said before we've had to 're-housetrain' Koda at almost every place we've been to. It's a sign of stress.

I would start taking her out maybe twice as often as you are now just to make sure this is out of her system. Also, use an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle to thoroughly clean up the mess (if on carpet- bleach is fine for tile).

It took Koda and Hailey about a month or so each to adjust. She'll get it! But I certainly feel your pain.

When we got Rodney he paced for days, whined and howled for days also. Pooped on concrete and wouldn't go in the grass.. We got him a friend and now he is as happy as can be so my suggestion is get a second to entertain Roxy! :-)....

Rodney did calm down though before we got Niko :-). It just takes time for them to relax and adjust!

We are looking into a second one. We where going to take a 4 month old from a friend of mine at work but she got impatient and gave her to another coworker. She couldnt wait 2 days dangit

So now she has decided she likes to poop in her crate before her mommy can get home to let her out she only stays in her crate from 8-12 dunno why in the world she wont wait. SHE USED TOO

Hmm... it sounds to me like she might still be really nervous, but pooping in the crate is not normal.... for any dog. I would put a call into the vet JUST to be sure it couldn't be a sign of something else (remember, phone calls are free )


However, I would try associating the house with more positive reinforcement. Perhaps after you take her out on walks, give her lots of praise and treats as soon as you walk into the new place. Leave treats randomly in rooms for her to go and find. Sort of like crate training, but for a much larger area

Does she have a special toy or treat that's a crate only item? Perhaps giving her some peanut butter kongs or yogurt kongs might help her relax a little more in the crate for a while. These things take time... remember, it tooks us months to re-house train koda when we moved him for the first time... so I feel your pain. Just keep at it!

My fiancee looked her over and said everything is fine as far as health (vet tech). Roxy has a very short attention span and only messes with the kong for a few minutes but ill try it in her crate since she has nothing better to do. Thanks!

Ive also been hiding treats in boxes etc...... to sharpen her mind a lil

Brandon I am sorry about all of this! I know how you feel! sniper hasnt had accidents in awhile but she still does! when you gotta go you gotta go LOL. just be patient with her :-) she went from a nice size house with plenty of room to run down to an apartment. she needs some time to adjust. Bring her by the house and let her run :-) she will get better i promise

Huskies remain in the puppy stage from anywhere between 2 and 6 years. I wouldn't rule it out, although I agree it's slightly unlikely.

Try freezing the kong too. It lasts longer that way. I find it helps too if we keep 1 or 2 toys as "crate only" toys... something that's high-value and makes them excited to go into the crate. You want to maintain a positive association with any and all things crate related.

You need to keep in mind how big of a change this is for her. She'll get used to it... it just takes a long time, especially if she wasn't accustomed to many changes before.

So how is Roxy doing?

SO NOW she has decided she doesnt like to stay in her crate any longer She has figured out how to get out. to this day im really confused how she does it

You really need to work on re-crate training her. If you want some suggestions PM me. Have you tried what I mentioned above?

Koda and Hailey's crates are reinforced with carabiners. Moving is a really big change for a dog and you really need to work on making her feel more comfortable. Making her crate a safe and happy place is a way to do that.
