| I actually got my Levi (now 8 months old) from Counts Cove. Alice Counts has been breeding huskies for many years and she is located in Perris, CA. She has husky round ups a few times a year. The last one was last month in Dana Point and there were prob 90 huskies there. It was pretty cool seeing them play around. Other than the website, there is also Counts Cove Facebook group. |

| I got my pup from CCK as well. Definitely not a puppy mill. Alice loves her dogs and will always take one of her dogs back, if someone decides they don't want it or can't care for it anymore. She hosts round-ups a few times a year and they are really fun...they don't happen often enough, in my opinion. I am in la and I have friends, who are also CCK owners and we meet up at huntington dog beach a few times a month for husky play dates. Message me if you are interested in joining us sometime! |

Just because she loves her dogs and would take one back doesn't mean that she's not what most would consider a puppy mill. Just sayin'... ETA: The issue is why is someone breeding? The most important concept should be that the dogs should be bettering the breed. They should be health tested and there should be a distinct purpose for breeding. Someone who breeds 8 litters a year isn't considering what they are adding to the world and why, even if they AREN'T doing it to turn a profit. However, I'm sorry... 8 litters a year... I don't care how much she loves her dogs, she's using them to make money. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

| Oh my lord, no mentioning of Pretty Pawz or I may gauge my eyes out, haha. Though I wish the owner would come back to play and tell us how we make our dogs work(aka biking, hiking) for their food and are terrible people for leashing our dogs. I'm with Tori- 8 litters is gross. I don't look at breeders that do more than max 3x a year (seasonal), though I prefer 2x a year. |

| I had no idea about quality of breeders, puppy mills, BYB.. I was completely ignorant to them until I wanted to get a husky and started to research, I told my BF... I dont care if shes 1000$ if they are known to be a reputable breeder then its worth it to me.... I told him to research and find one of the best ones close to here... I don't know how he came about choosing galena creek but I am happy he did... I always had this dream of owning a pure bread husky, I would definitely rescue my next.. He was always like look here is one on CL for 500$... I was just like no I cant get it now and passed... Now I know the dog was probably very sick or something cause I remember he was texting and calling off the hook trying to get us to come look at the dog and buy her, poor thing =( |

| Well, I like Alice Counts and I think she is a good breeder and knows what she is doing. She has been breeding for 20 years. Her kennels are always kept clean, her pups/dogs are well taken care of. She is very helpful always and she has an entire group for CCK owners on Facebook, who are free to state their opinions about her openly with each other. Everybody loves Alice and her dogs and the Husky round-ups that she hosts. She is in no way a puppy mill. She genuinely cares about her dogs and breeds for the love of the breed. Don't judge someone based on what you read, go and check out CCK for yourself and then form your opinions about Alice and CCK. |

| I agree with everyone else. 8 litters? Holy hell! Poor females! And from her website she doesn't only breed Sibes but German Shepherds as well... nothing about health testing. She doesn't show or work her dogs; a whole page only about colorings... She may love Huskies but from the looks of it, she's in it mostly for the $$. Anyone can breed dogs, but to do it to better the breed takes a lot more than getting a female pregnant with another "pretty" dog to make "pretty" puppies, with "such and such" coat color. Touchy subject with me since my Kale is from a "breeder" and has skeletal problems... |

I think you need to redefine your definition of a puppy mill. Everything you are stating has NOTHING to do with what constitutes a puppy mill. She is adding 8 litters a year to a world where huskies are PUT TO SLEEP in shelters DAILY. That's no lie. She may love the breed, but not enough to do her best to control the population of huskies so that they don't die in shelters or on the street. Her website screams puppy mill to me. While it has a lot of information she: a) breeds two different breeds of dogs with no mention of show or workmanship. Dogs should be proven in the show or working ring. b) her dogs have NO mention of birthday, health testing, or any pertinent information telling us what makes them good breeding stock except for weight and eye color...as if THAT has anything to do with why you should breed. Puppy mills breed for money, without care or consideration to the type of dog they are putting into the world... Sorry, but from all accounts, CCK seems to fit the bill. _________________ www.itsahuskything.com It's a husky thing... you wouldn't understand. |

Unfortunately things like keeping clean kennels, having a large following, and being well liked doesn't mean they are a reputable kennel. Breeding for the love of the breed is something that should be coupled with breeding with responsibility. Responsibility such as health testing, limited litters, and proving the dogs in one area or another. Creating 8 litters in such a short time is just pumping out puppies for no reason we can see other than to generate money. There is no way someone can provide that much interaction/socialization to these puppies with that MANY running around. Odin has cataracts, Misha has hip dysplasia, Rodeo has a slew of health problems... The majority of which could have all been avoided with careful breeding and health testing. With such a large kennel and such a large breeding program... I really hate to think how many of those puppies end up in shelters. While she may take them back if there is a problem... I just can't see there being that many people constantly buying these puppies who are 100% truly committed and are ready to be true Husky owners. Reputable breeders have a thorough selection and application process for there puppies to set them up for the best and well-fitting life possible. I'm sure you love your puppy, but unfortunately that breeder/kennel wouldn't be considered reputable and love for the breed or not, they really are doing them a disservice. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Give "Another Piece of the Puzzle: Puppy Developement" to see what reputable breeders do with puppies before they go to their new homes. There is no way a person can properly socialize and set the puppy up to do its best with 8 litters! One alone is a handful!
Sorry to say, they sound like my Siku's breeder. She is well liked by many, claims to love the breed a ton, but all she does is pump out puppies for a profit. Right now she has 7 litters with 30 puppies! It's sickening! Plus she does not do health tests or care about the breed standard. _________________ -Sara |

| DO NOT go into business with Counts Cove Kennels. She has an average of 20+ litters per year. That's over 100 puppies every year she is potentially putting on the streets and in kill shelters. Not to mention all the breeding dogs she has which, according to her website, is over 200. I counted that one female had 3 litters of puppies in 2012. She may have a "nice" facility but this many puppies from ONE person is a PUPPY MILL! She is not in the business to better the breed. She is in it for the money. We blindly went into business with her and ended up returning the dog 5 days later. He was VERY small, already had separation anxiety, would not leave our hip, and was mean to our other dog. Those are signs of a poorly socialized and bred animal. Her incorporation license, which is how she is doing business, is suspended and has been since 2003. She does NOT have a business license. There are SEVERAL complaints about her on numerous websites, including the BBB, and they all have the same underlying message... SCAM ARTIST and PUPPY MILL! She will try to scam you out of your money if you return the pup and won't give you the AKC papers even if you get the dog neutered/spayed. STAY AWAY!!! |
