Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

PostSubject: Not really new..   Not really new.. EmptyTue Jan 22, 2013 10:00 pm

Well like the title says I'm not really new. I joined under a different username two or three years ago and trolled the site but never posted. Eventually I forgot about the site and I forgot my password and everything. So here is my belated welcome mat post.

I am Kelsey and I have two dogs at the moment. When I first joined and posted my first Welcome Mat post, I had three. I had Prancer a Standard Poodle, Kennedy and Sheba. Prancer spent 6 wonderful months with us before my landlord decided that I could no longer have three dogs. He was a rescue and he had lots of problems. He self mutilated due to his sever separation anxiety and howled and cried for hours while I was at work. I helped him build enough confidence to stop mutilating himself, and brought his howling down from all day to almost non existent. But, it wasn't good enough. She told me that she had gotten too many complaints on him and that three dogs was too many (even though there was no pet restriction on my lease). I called a rescue in Missouri and drove 6 hours to meet them half way. I was a mess. The rescuer even cried because I was such a mess. I got updates the whole time he was with her and I even got to see a picture of him and his new family. I felt like I had failed miserably as a pet parent and I beat myself up for weeks about it. I am at the point now where I can look at his pictures and be happy for him now.

Kennedy was a rescue from a shelter in Mississippi. She took three days to potty train and she has been such a blessing in my life. My mom and step dad got divorced recently and she always let me cry in her fur. She is very thankful to be out of the shelter, I can tell. Her favorite thing is to rub up against you and kiss your face while you scratch her belly. She has her issues, but I wouldn't trade her for anything else in the world. She is my heart dog though, 100% sure.

Sheba is a rescue from a puppy mill. I didn't really do any research about the breed before I went to rescue her. I saw her on facebook and I decided right then and there she was mine. I did lots of research after I brought her home and I must say the information available about raising Husky pups is pretty much all the same. I found LOTS on adults, but not puppies. I was kind of peeved. Sheba has taught me more then any other dog I have had. She is a husky through and through, and I hope every single day that she didn't get any awful genetic mishaps. So far we are good though. It's scary though. Always wondering if she is going to show signs of where she came from.. She's a healthy, happy pup though.

My two girls are partners in crime and I love them both dearly and I can't wait to see where life will take us Smile.
