Luna is enrolled in a Good Canine Citizenship class and part of the test it to be on a supervised separation. We practiced last night and she was awful. She was so upset when I left and I don't know how to fix it. She doesn't act like that when I leave her home alone in her crate, she settles right down. But I can't leave the house with her roaming free or she will destroy things so i'm not sure how to prepare her for that part of the test. Suggestions?

Do you have friends or family who wouldn't mind working with you? The best way I would think is put it to a cue (such as bye-bye) and walk away and have your friends/family present her with something awesome (such as a PB kong) and come back in the allotted time (3 mins) and take away the kong. Practice using different people in different places. Honestly this was the easiest for my dogs lol

I was also wondering about this part, as our dogs are almost never alone without one of the house members there and will break a stay to get to us. Thanks Kristina! :]

My husky passed his CGC with flying colors. The "cue" is a great idea! Also, make sure she is tired before you take her to class. Remember a tired dog is a happy dog (and a happy owner!) If she is tired she may be less apt to try and follow you, but take Kristinas advice- practice makes perfect! I found that if I made sure Rig had a lot of exercise before class he was more apt to "chill" than to bounce around and act like the class clown! LOL
