Being on my nook i cannot paste the link in but their is someone looking for help to rescue a husky being abused and neglected not terribly far from my house, it is on craigslist so if you want to view his story go on the chicago pets section. A short version is that the person has tried the police animal control and humane society many times and they will do nothing because the dog has shelter and a fenced the last they checked. But this person has seen the dog being full out punched and kicked. Does anyone have any suggestions on that i could let this person know to try rescueing the poor guy. I'll help the most I can and I already let him know of two husky rescues in lisle and union( or something like that) to try contacting. If we could get on of these places to take the dog I think I could go down and bring him to the rescue but i have no clue how to go about this. Im the type of person that doesnt have a problem just taking the dog from known abusers but i know that can get me in trouble. Please any ideas would be great here!

My Sensible side says:

I'd tape it.

Full out record the abuse and send it to the police, Animal control, rescues, and the news all at the same time.

Including the address and as much evidence as I could. Public awareness is a powerful powerful thing, especially when talking about animal abuse.

What I would really do is probably a lot more direct and should not be recommended Wink. I'll pay a fine or explain myself in court willingly if it means I saved any animal from that kind of environment though.

I emailed the person and said that he should video it. Honestly what i would do is probably similiar to what ur thinking. But i gave them two a number for a husky rescue somewhere around lockport and the name of one in harvard, il. I told them if they can get either place to take him to let me know that i am willing to pick him up and bring him to either place. Hopefully one of them will take him.

I tried to call the cops on one of my neighbors who was doing the same thing. You could physically SEE them punching the dog and you could hear them yell "hit the bastard harder!" all the time. Eventually, the dog "disappeared". They killed it because they beat it with a shovel. The cops wouldn't do anything because there wasn't evidence, even though everyone in town knows what happened to that poor dog.

Definitely video tape ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. Or steal the poor thing. I've done that one a couple times too.

My Storm is with us today because we stole her from an abusive/neglectful owner. Most times, calling the authorities won't help. In her case, the owner was related to the Animal Control officer and he knew what was going on. I hope someone can help that poor dog.

I havent heard back from him but i asked him to keep him next time he gets out and i have no problem going down and transporting him if he needs me to. Im really hoping he was able to get one of the husky shelters to take him. If we didnt have three dogs a kitten and three humans in our three bedroom mobile home already and i wouldnt get told to leave i would just take him and rehome him but theres no way i can. He hasnt had interaction and so we dont know if he is ok with dogs cats and children which a big worry for me with any pup because i have a 3 yr old nephew over daily. Im really hoping to hear something good from the guy soon, at least he is trying to find a good home in the mean time he is keeping it in its yard by patching spots he find the pup digging and adding wood were need be so at least it wont be abused for escaping.
