| Does anybody here has a Husky that panics when it's time for a bath?
Ghost gets in panic everytime we try to put him in the tub. He freaks out... he starts breathing really deep, like when a person has a panic attack. I don't know what happened, the first times he took a bath he behaved well, not perfect, but well.
Any tips? |

| Use lots of treats. You can try putting a towel down in the tub for him to stand on. Make sure the water is the right temperature. Make him as comfortable as possible. |

| We already use treats, but it doesn't work, he doesn't pay attention to them. The towel, I had never thought of that... I'll keep that in mind, thanks |

| Dragon does that same thing and starts doing his "old lady yelp" that he does in the crate when we put him up and leave. He hates it so we just try to get through it ASAP. I'm glad you brought this up so I can follow this thread and see what other people say. |

| Maybe use a higher value treat? ie. cheese, hot dogs cut up (something to that sort that he doesn't get often.) Also, maybe try desentsitizing him to it. What I mean by that is say you and him are walking by the bathroom, go and take him in and give him lots of praise and treats. Then step ot up and one time when your walking by put a treat on the edge of the tub or inside the tub and spark his interest... once he takes it, lots of praise and treats. Eventually you can move up to putting him in the tub and treating/praising him. I know it sounds like a long process but this is what I would do? To get him back to that comfortable feeling even when in the bathroom/ tub. Even running the water when he's in there may help. Just suggestions, I've never had this problem so I don't know for sure! lol |

| I have one that hates baths and will fight us to no end. She will eventually just bear with it, but wants out ASAP. My younger one, I have to do everything I can just to keep her out of my showers. She tries to lick all the soap off of her, but for the most part doesnt mind. Trust me it is interesting when I decide I want to relax in a bath. She brings me all sorts of her toys as if telling me I can play. LOL
I would say just do it as fast as possible and only when they really need it. I think mine probably get one 2 times a year. GOOD LUCK!!! |

| Poor buddy! When Bella was a puppy, she used to be scared of the tub. At first I tried the water temperature, treats, nothing would work. FInally I tried filling the tub and then putting her in, it worked great. I think the sound of the water rushing from the spout and the sounds of it hitting the tub scared her. I did that for the first few baths ( she attracts dirt like pigpen from the peanuts gang), and now I can even leave the faucet on. Infact, I can't even keep her OUT of the tub, she'll dive in with you if you if given the chance. Hope this helps a little! |

| I don't have one yet but I remember my Dad's Husky is weird... If you say "Bath Time" she actually runs to the bathroom and waits to get in the tub. Though she doesn't like the water much, I do remember she loves the towel. |

| Loki hates bathes as well and screams bloody murder. One thing our trainers suggested for clipping nails (rub peanut butter on a clean fridge door and while they are occupied by the peanut butter clip there nails) worked out great for giving Loki a bath. (we slather one wall with peanut butter and we don't hear a peep while we are washing him) Our trainers thing it is hilarious. |

| My husband holds a kong with delicious treats up for him so he can have easy access for bath time and for nail trim time. We also keep shredded chicken nearby and give a piece to him every 30 seconds or so while he's in the tub. Works like a charm. |

| Ava spazzes too. She's not food motivated enough to care about treats or anything being offered, and she screams like a banshee. The last few times have been a lot better though. We usually do a trade off - before the bath, she gets to go to the dog park and play for a few hours (and reach maximum muddiness), then we head to a self-grooming place that's about 5 minutes away from the dog park. She's tired and mellow and doesn't mind her bath at all. And before heading home, if the weather's nice, we go across the road and get ice cream cones at McDonalds, but that's just for fun Try tiring your pup out by doing something really fun that he doesn't get to do very often before each bath. The dog park is perfect for us because its an hour away so we don't go too often. |
