Well it seems that there is a shortage of Orijen due to a fire at the facility so I can't buy poor Luna Orijen. I called my local store and they said they are raising their prices also. 15lbs bag of Regional Red up to 59.99 per bag which i definitely am not paying. Any suggestions on what to switch her to?

I've had her on EVO Red Meat since I couldn't buy Orijen Regional Red. What do you all think about EVO? Should I just keep her on it?

Was way too rich for my dogs. They are a natura product which was bought out by proctor and gamble last year. We won't feed that again because of it but some people don't mind.

I had Kale on the EVO herring and he did okay on it. Kale on Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Chicken right now and is doing great.

You might be able to order it online too. One of my friends has been ordering it online for her dogs and hasn't had trouble, although she gets the fishy flavor. I think she was buying from doggiefood.com and when they ran out of the big bags, they sent multiple smaller bags for the same price and she actually ended up getting a few pounds of kibble for free that way.

Yeah the the price raising is a little bit crazy it's pretty expensive as it is. I'll be paying almost 70 dollars for a 15lbs bag after taxes.

Same here. A lot of us fed EVO a long while ago (or tried it, at least). Was too rich for Koda aside from the red meat, but I couldn't handle the gas. And with them being bought out, I don't want to give my money to a company I don't have faith in. You can get much better food and manufactures for the price.

He would eat it some days, and then not others, which is REALLY rare for him. He's a chow hound and never skips meals... Ever lol

If you can get it, try Annamaet Aqualuk or Salcha. They are decent. Tried it with Cato and he liked it a lot and never had a problem. I have also met quite a few who love it. It can be hard to find though.

I also would feed Solid Gold Barking at the moon if I fed kibble - its a nice looking food. My brother feeds it and his dog is in great condition. High protein, low carb...and no longer manufactured by diamond.

I really like Annamaet, but it's hard to find and pretty damn pricey!

Arto, nothing wrong with feeding Evo if Luna does well on it and you are okay with the fact that it is now owned by P&G.

FWIW, I used to feed Evo before it was bought by P&G and my dogs (all of them) did absolutely amazing on it. It was one of the few kibbles that all my dogs really had the best results on. My dogs did far better on Evo than they did on Orijen. But I stopped feeding it after the buyout because I wasn't going to wait for product quality to suffer, which I knew would decline in time.

Thanks everyone for your input!

Yeah I've noticed Luna's poop has been inconsistent and she's been having diarrhea randomly since she's been on EVO this past month. Definitely going to switch her to something else.

I think I'm going to try Natures Variety instinct RAW Chicken and maybe rotate between their different varieties.

It's rated well on both these websites as well.

Heading tot the store in a few minutes to pick it up and I'll start transitioning her tonight when she eats dinner.

Yeah, I bought Charlie Orijen today from a store called Natural Pawz here in Houston. Switching him from Pedigree. (breeders choice food). The nice folks there did mention this to me today and said there would be a shortage until February! They weren't happy at all about that. Even went as far as to say that they shouldn't punish people at the register because of their mistake. They also told me that Orijen and Arcana are made by the same company. (I didnt know this) So I got him a couple 30lbs bags. Just in case they dont have it the next time I need it.

Quick Update:

Luna has transitioned to Natures Variety Instinct RAW Chicken and she loves it. Gobbles up all her food once she's given the chance. Her stool is good to go so far no runs.

Thanks for the help.

Sad to hear Oijen is having trouble. I feed that for my cats but Bella had the runs for months with it so we switched her to Hollistic select and that has proved to be perfect for her. May have to nab a few extra kitty bags to tide me over till Feb.

Got my complimentary bag of EVO due to the recall today at the food store, also picked up a 15-lb bag of Orijen 6-Fish to see if we can transition her to that.

15-lb Bag of 6-Fish was $48
28.6-lb Bag will be $83

+ taxes

Shocked

But, we want to make sure she's getting good quality food, so I hope she does well with it.

Looks like they're back in stock and also with new, more compact packaging! I just saw them bring in the new bags last week at our local pet store!
