I already take nala for runs with my bike on a regular basis I was wondering if Bikejoring is much harder or if anything easier than riding with her next to me. She can do 4 miles no problem and has never show. Any signs of discomfort either. Is this a good idea. I will also do a lot of riding I. Trails or at parks not very much joring in the city although I ride with her in the busy streets having her out in the open in front of me is a different story...


Is it a good idea to both have her bikejor and run along side the bike or will she develop bad habits or get confused of what to do. Running beside the bike has become second nature to her. I'd hate to turn her world upside down by having her site exact opposite of what she's learned to do this past months

well if your riding with her on your bike all ready you are joring.... are u using the walky dog hook up thing?

i only ride S&J with the true bikejoring set up with them out in front pulling.

what i have found with the huskies is they tend to not show they are hurting till you stop so be careful on the runs check feet give water and build up the distance slowly.

Oh I didnt know that was called joring anywho yeah we take water breaks every 30 minutes and we actually take a breather pretty often because of stop lights

And no j do t use anything special just a leash and some paracord with a clip thing and well a harnass but I don't think thats a given I know that my harnass won't be a good one for pulling because it buckles to the leash right on the top and isn't very padded I'm thinking about getting an xback harnass from Alpine outfitters

I am new to bikejoring too, but what I have found about having a dog out front is that as long as he is moving, he doesn't seem to acknowledge the cars because he has a job to do. I do slow him down when a car is coming. At times he is running beside me instead of out front anyway, but I am trying to get him to pull consistantly.

I found that if the line goes slack, it's easier than I thought to avoid it entangling in the front tire. We use an 8 ft skijoring line and x-back harness from Alpine Outfitters.

Directional commands and on-by are still a work in progress for us though, but very important! Especially for roadkill by our house!

Thanks yeah it seems like it'll be a lot of fun for both of us... she doesn't really have much trouble with the commands for the most part she makes it pretty easy ill keep posted on the progress but i don't know when she'll be getting her xback harness

Ie been bikejoring for 2 years now so welcome to the club! Its alot of fun i must say. Just a suggestion, careful with too much pavement training as it can be bad for the joints. I use an xback for my dogs although i am jealous of the harnesses special for bikejour. Team Apex, although not bikejorers at all has a great harness! Not sure if its custom or where to find but itwould be a great find. I personally use garden hose to keep dogs from eating necklines and also to keep from tangles. They are avoidable but hey, just in case. Especially racing, which is very fun btw! Good luck and happy trails!

I don't know if it's different over there, but here it's illegal to cycle on the pavements - not that many people care. And I wouldn't feel comfortable running them on the roads - english drivers can be numptys.
