| I would like to know if it is ok to have bikejoring here in the Philippines since the weather is not as cold as the US or other countries. Is it safe? What are the do's and donts. And what to prepare. thank you guys! |

| Heat and humidity can be concerns for high levels of activity like this. Can't say that I'm a specialist when it comes to the weather there, but I assume both heat and humidity need to be considered.
First off, make sure the dog's coat is clean and brushed with no matted fur. Husky coats are also good at keeping them cooler in warm weather as long as the coat is clean and maintained.
Second, make sure you start off easy and increase activity gently as you get started. Humans can start running marathons without a lot of training ahead of time. It's the same way for dogs. Don't push too hard at the start.
Stick to cooler days or cooler times of the day. Early in the morning or late in the evening when it's not as warm out would be good.
Bring water and take breaks. Make sure the dog is staying hydrated. Get a portable water bowl, and pack lots of water.
Don't force the dog to do all the work. You have pedals, use them. If you have to go up hill, you need to pedal.
Be careful of the surface you are on. Grass is great, soft dirt is good. Concrete and asphalt can rip up the pads of a dog, especially if they are doing hard work and trying to pull something.
Make sure you have a good harness that fits comfortably.
Joring is something that I plan to get into myself. But it's not something I'd do in the summers here. We can be 90 degrees F for weeks at a time. We can hit 100 degrees F or more for a week at a time. Early morning and late evening walks are appropriate for that time of the year, not heavy exercise. But are spring and fall weather would be great for it. Our winter weather would be too, but not too sure how that will work out for us lol. |
