Zoe is really pretty too, I love her eyes. no reason i saw an ad in the paper, been looking for siberian pups for awhile, and went and got her. she was when i got her and still is eating solid food. i know nothing about raising puppies so since they let me take her home i figured it was ok to take her home. she eating dry food like it's going out of style and is doing really well with not using the restroom in the house. i've had her for 3 days and she hasn't had and accident yet. Zoe's eyes is the reason i rescued her. you really can't tell it in the picture but her eyes from the center of the eye there is a white ring then a pale blue ring then another white ring thank you for the welcome and the compliments on my two pals |

| Welcome! I'm glad you found our site since you are new to raising a puppy. Puppies get the majority of their socialization and doggy manners from their mom and siblings between 6 and 8 weeks, so taking a puppy before that 8 week point can be very damaging to the puppy's development. That's not to say that you have done anything wrong, as you said you have no experience with raising a puppy We are here to help, we have plenty of members who for one reason or another have wound up with pups that young and they have been able to raise healthy, well adjusted dogs. First thing, if you haven't done so already Maya needs to be checked out by a vet. Almost all puppies have worms, and they can be very harmful if left untreated. She could also have coccidia or any number of other parasites, and she needs to get started on her puppy vaccines. While you're reading up on things here, run searches on things like puppy biting and food choices, as well as training. When Maya is a little older and has had a couple rounds of shots, she should get started in a formal training class. We had a wonderful experience at a Petsmart just outside of Pensacola with Ghost's training, and I really miss that trainer. There are also private groups that are great too. Don't be intimidated, and don't let Maya walk all over you. Huskies are intelligent, stubborn, and independent, and will try your very soul some days Both of your girls are adorable, and we are here to help you survive puppy hood. What part of Alabama are you in? I had a Husky meet up group going in the Pensacola, FL area, and we bounced between Mobile and Destin. If you're close enough, and when Maya is old enough, you'd be welcome to join the group. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. Maya isn't the first puppy i raised and the last puppy i got was about 14 years ago and he was 6 weeks old when i got him also. he wasn't a husky and i just had to recently had to put him to sleep. - MayaAndSophie wrote:

| Aw, sorry about your dog you recently lost Sounds like you're on the right track, so keep doing what you're doing. Yes, 5-6 weeks is too young to be separated from the litter, but with a little extra work you really shouldn't have any long term issues. Im familiar with Decatur, and I *love* Huntsville and the Space Center there. Yeah, I'm a nerd _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
