| So I have been going through the threads on this website, and the more I read, the more Im surprised! I was told Huskies are very indipendant, and are similar in some ways to how a cat would behave with its owner. Not really the cuddly over emotinal one, you know? So I was shocked to read that some of you guys have your huskies attached to your hip! So my question for this thread, or request, which ever -- Is how does your husky or huskies behave towards you? Do they favor you? Do they get along with everyone? Are the independant, or are they glued to your side? Do they cuddle up with you? Do they seek attenetion from you, or could care less? Does he or she show more affection to your mother, brother, sister, father or any friends?
I just want to know how their personalities are XD My friends husky ignores him, and only gives him attention when she wants something. Which I was prepared for. But Im not gunna lie, if my Husky was glued to my side and followed me around ((Game of Thrones very own Dire Wolf)) then that would be pretty awesome too LoL
So share! Im getting my pup in 2 weeks, and I want to know if I can tell what his personality will be like XD Im expecting him to be like my friends LoL |

| I figured his husky ignored him though because he is the same. Doesnt really cuddle up with her, and plays video games most of the time, so the dog does her own thing. Im going to be home a lot, so Im hoping to do more things with him! So I wonder if that has anything to do with how your huskies behavior will play out?
When you guys first get your huskies, where you really affectionate, cuddled, slept in the same bed, went on a lot of adventures and such to have the bond that much more powerful? Or is it at random? LoL Please share :3 |

| My Dragon follows me around and definitely shows more affection to me than my husband but I am the one who feeds him and takes him out and plays the most with him- HOWEVER, I do believe he views my husband as the alpha in our "pack" because he tends to back off and mind him better than he will me. If I tell him no he doesn't listen but if Brad says no he stops immediately. But I think Dragon senses our energy levels too.. I'm a much more affectionate touchy-feely person than my husband and I show my emotions that way (to him as well) my husband is more of a chilled personality lol. I think he picks up on that with both of us. |

| Both mine are very affectionate and loving. They will follow me from room to room, they need to know whats going on at all times. Yes they are very smart and need to be challenged with games, but they are also pack animals and want to feel like part of the family. Mine would destroy things if they didnt get the affection they wanted. They have been this way since day one with me. They have been allowed to sleep in my bed and they know when bedtime is and will always try to beat me to the bed. They will fight for the spot between the pillows to curl up. They want hugs and love to give kisses. My older one is more of a barker and will let me know when someone is at the house, my younger one wont even bark if someone knocks on the door. She is more timid as she was a rescue, but her life is all about MOM!!! LOL
Every husky will be different just like every child is, but all the ones I have seen and met are very affectionate and loving. |

| Hmmm, it seems like it has a lot to do with how your personality is too. You both are affectionate people, and do a lot of activites together? So it seems they decide how they should act with each pack member XD
Ah, one of you sleeps with your dog? I was gunna see how that went the first few nights! XD |

| Each dog is completely different, so how yours will turn out is up in the air.
As far as my two go, they are completely night and day!
Hayden (male) is my love bug and likes to cuddle and listens well. Hayden doesnt over do it like some dogs that can be constantly under your feet. he does it justvenough so that he doesnt anoy me. he respects my space and i respect his. He can get rather hard headed at times and likes to test his boundaries on occasion. I'm his favorite person in our house. Apparently (from what I'm told) when I leave the house Hayden is a nightmare. He screams, cries, acts out, jumps the gate, passes back and forth and will not hold still until I come home, then he's a complete angel.
Nicky (female) is 100% cat-like! She seeks attention when she feels the need for a pet and when she's done with you, she leaves. If you try to give her affection and she doesn't want it she will growl and let it be known "don't touch me". She doesn't do it in a vicious way, more like a bratty way lol. Best way to describe Nicky is she is in her own little world and you should feel privileged if she allows you to enter into it and gtfo when she says so. Complete brat! |

| We don't usually sleep with Dragon. We are crate training him so he sleeps in his crate with a dividers up. He didnt like it very much at all the first he cried a lot but you have to resist the urge to go to him. It teaches him to get comfortable sleeping in his crate. He will calm down and wake up and cry in the night to wake you up so you know to take him out to potty. Occasionally we have put Dragon in the bed with us (at the foot of the bed) when we want to take a nap and don't want to crate him for such a short time (sometimes it takes 30 mins for him to calm down) but we don't like to put him in the bed with us very often so we don't create that pattern of anticipation. |

| Anna follows me around everywhere. To the bathroom, if I take a shower, if I just get up to look in the mirror, she is right there when I go to bed which is a different time then my boyfriend. If he is asleep and I am up, she is there for at least 50 percent of the time. She shows us attention all the time. Something we are trying to break out of her is her jumping on people but when she jumps she is trying to lick our faces. I or my boyfriend can walk outside for five seconds and she will jump on the door and scream and cry even if one of us is still inside with her. As soon as we come back in she has to lick our faces like we have been gone forever. I put the trash outside our apartment door last night and she sat at the door the whole time looking through the crack to see if I was still there. Anna used to peek her head around the shower curtain to make sure we didn't disappear out of the shower. And if i walk into a room and push the door closed she will walk into it trying to open it, it is very funny if the door is completely closed because all you hear is a big bump. And she will sit outside the door waiting for me to come back out. I think Anna sees me as Alpha and not my boyfriend. I do a majority of the training, feeding, walking, pottying etc. I think she views my boyfriend as her chew toy, she won't listen to him as well as she does me and he lets her get away with things. She will not bite me, I have never allowed it but he is a different story, it was let her be a puppy blah blah blah now he is paying for it when she bites him now. Hence why I think she views him as a chew toy. I cuddle with Anna more than he does but she loves us more than anything and loves licking our faces. I was expecting her to be independent as well and she doesn't seem to be and I don't think I want that to change. I love how I can go anywhere and she is there. I always like having someone with me and she fills that void for me. |

| Lmao XD
That reminds me, from what I have heard, males are more affectionate? Though Im pretty sure I have read at least 5 posts in which their girls would be very affectionate. So I think thats up in the air as well.
Ohh, okay so hes only allowrd to sleep with you guys at random moments. I had read that one or two of the owners on this website were lucky and didnt even need to crate train their dog. That they slept in their bed and had no accidents. Though I know I will be crate training mine, but I was hoping I would get to share a bed sometime XD
Awww! Anna sounds precious!! So I guess it just depends. A lot of you seem to be very affectionate with your huskies though, so I also think having the constant attention at a young age helps.

| We tried crating Hayden for about 2 weeks, but after 10 weeks I just gave up. He sleeps in bed with me eery night and we snuggle. Nicky was never crate trained and always sleeps on the floor. I've been lucky and haven't had any issues with them. When I leave the house Nicky has free roam and is usually pretty good. I have to be careful not to leave out magazines or anything shreddable (she just can't seem to help herself). Hayden however HAS to be crated when I leave, or he will literally eat my house! He's already destroyed one couch and currently working on the drywall in the kitchen. |

| I crated both of mine when they were little and during potty training. I still have the crate it is just folded up and put away. They have free roam of the house. I do close off the bathroom and bedrooms because I have found that Lucy will drag my clothes all over the house. She doesnt ruin anything, just brings shoes, shirts, jeans ect basically anything she can get through the house she will. I think she misses me. I try to always have a kong or treat toy ready for her, but she is mostly good. Oh trust me she has had many many bad times when she was younger. I had to keep her crated becasue she destroyed flooring, drywall, rugs. I slowly started leaving her out on short trips and now she is good. THANK GOD!!!! As cute as puppies are, I DO NOT miss it. Just be consistant and loving, and you will get that back. |

| Blaze my male is a lot like a cat he only wants petted when he wants it. He lays in front of the fireplace looking at us but not wantting any attention. He could care less if some one comes to the door. We got him first at 9 months old someone wanting to get rid of him off craigslist. He is not 2 years old.
Kerian our femaie always wants attention you call her and she will always come. YOu call Blaze and she comes. SHe is a little lover if you ask me. She was a rescue from a shelter we got her 6-7 months old she was about 2 years old them. Kerian is a barker when someone comes to the door even if she can see someone outside.
Neither of them sleep in our bed they do sleep in the room on the dog beds. Kerian will got to bed at about 7:3opm I think she gets bored.
Both of mine will sleep in the crates if asked too. If we take them on a trip we bring the crates and have them sleep in them. I never had to house train them so they were not crate train in that aspect. We do leave one of the crates up all the time they will go into it if the one some alone quiet tim.e Blaze will escape into it to get away from Kerian who wants to play most of the time. |

So it looks like a lot of you have very affectionate huskies XD Tons of accidents!! I wouldn't do it again, Nicky would piss the bed every other day if not everyday! Some times more than twice a day. Not worth it! |

| If you plan on letting him sleep with you wake up really often and take him out to pee to try and avoid the bed mess.
TIka isnt a cuddler, she loves to play and get attention, but not really super affectionate. She does always want to be with us however. Ripley on the other hand would sit on your lap all day if you let her. |

| Looks like hes gunna be in the crate then. I was going to wake up every 2-3 hours to take him out to relieve himself, then put him back and see how that works. But if you think its a bad idea, ill most likley just keep in the crate at night next to my bed LoL |

| Saber is not a cuddler. He will seek you out when he wants something. If you try to ignore him, he will lift your arm or hand up with his nose or get right in your face if he can. If you seek him out, he will tolerate letting you pet him.
He has never been crate trained. After he was potty trained he had free run of the house with my parents dog. He only destroyed a back scratcher, a rubber grip pen and a rubber handled screwdriver when he was teething. He's always been pretty mellow and laid back for a husky. |

Thats exactly where ours was and it worked great, she graduated to staying outr overnight after a few months, but start it crated. It will be much easier to clean than your bed |

| I got Libby when she was 5 weeks old (which is way to early) and she had several accidents but I had her on puppy pads for sleeping and that worked. I woke up a lot to let her out and she was potty trained very quickly. I hung a bell on the door and i would ring it as I walked outside and I used a "go potty" and "finish" command and brought her straight into the house when she finished and gave lots of treats. She had this down in no time. I would never let her run around and play if it was a potty break. That way she knew what she was being rewarded for. Once she went we would go inside and play, just until she ncaught on. I still use the command and she is almost 4.5 yrs old now. |

| Nanook prefers me over everyone else. He just has to be in the same room with me in a place where he can see me. He will follow me to the bathroom or the laundry room, etc. But he does not like to cuddle. at all. Once in a while he will come up for a scratch behind the ears and give me a lick, but that's pretty much it. He and my hubby have a weird love-hate relationship. Hubby plays with him more than I do, but then Nanook gets too rough and won't back off. (He will with one sharp word from me, and I sometimes have to intervene.) I think he knows I am The Mom in this house and that's that. He likes my oldest daughter (age 6) well enough, and he'll listen to her. He avoids my youngest daughter (21months) like the plague and will run for his crate whenever she's around. |

| I do not crate Anna at night but I tried in the beginning. She lays in bed with me if I am the only one in bed. If it is both of us then she sleeps on the floor. But like everyone said if you chose not to crate your pup at night make sure to set an alarm to take him out. Anna never peed the bed during the night but then again I made sure to take her out or my boyfriend, who sleeps days not nights, was able to take her potty when I could not. I do understand that this doesn't work for everyone. |

my 2 do all that you listed! depends on the day, some times they never leave our side other days they hang out on the sofa and could careless where we are in the house. they cuddle because we make them, they do it for a few min and then are like ok you had your time now i want to go to MY spot! they are also both mommy or daddy huskies depending on the day. you just never know! but all huskies are pack dogs and need to be a part of your family, leaving them outside all day or not interacting with them will not work! _________________ |
