| So the past couple days Bode has been a little weird. He normally is super excited for his meals and eats it all when I put it down. We stayed at my parents the 22-25 and he was less interested in his food there, but he still ate it all eventually. He's done that before staying there and is normal when he comes home. Yesterday and today he's been very lethargic and not eating all his food. When he does eat, he only does a little at a time. Yesterday I chalked it up to him just being tired from three days of non stop stimulation playing with my parents dog (it's happened before) but he usually bounces back after a day. He will still play if you make him, we ran around in the yard this morning (I posted a video of it in the Snow Day thread) and we went to the park yesterday and he ran the whole time. He's not had any vomiting and his stools seem normal. Gums look fine, he's still drinking water like normal. We have a vet appointment for tomorrow, but any ideas what could be going on? I really didn't want to make the appointment and pay the money for a visit if I'm just overreacting, but he's kind of worrying me.
Edited to add: is it possible he just seems lethargic to me right now because he normally sleeps during the day, and I'm on break right now so his schedule is messed up? That still doesn't explain the eating though.... |

| I suggest taking him to the vet. I had a similar situation with Lycus not too long ago and turns out he had an infection in his intestine. Better safe than sorry. |

| Well he just ate his dinner normally, which is a good sign, but we will still go tomorrow. |

| They did blood work, x-rays, and a basic check-up. The blood results showed that he had a very high white blood cell count, and the x-rays showed his intestines being strange looking. Although, it might not be as bad for Bode considering he's still eating even if it is just a little. Lycus was not eating at all and was vomiting so it was definitely worse. He also couldn't even walk on his own. They ended up giving me Cerenia to stop the vomiting and Primor antibiotics for the infection. With this he was walking around the next day and eating a little. If he is still the same by your vet apt., I would take him in. It doesn't sound as bad as Lycus' but who knows. Hopefully it is nothing serious and he gets better soon! It's sad seeing your pups look so down |
