| Meika is always a big eater. She gobbles down her food in the morning in seconds flat usually. She got her food this morning at 7, like usual, but she hasn't touched it. She has been sleeping in her crate all day and it's almost 1pm. She usually sleeps in the morning so I'm not as concerned, but she hasn't went out at all and hasn't eaten anything.
I didn't notice her eating anything abnormal yesterday. I mean...she is always trying to eat leaves and sticks when we go out, but she didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Is there anything I should watch for? This is our first Husky (and first dog, really) so I'm not sure what to do, if anything.
Thanks. |

| I'd call the vet ASAP. It could be a number of things, and she should be checked out. No appetite and lethargy is not good combination. Things can go down hill very quickly. Is she drinking water? If not she could get dehydrated fast. |

| I would call the vet and see what they say. Does she have a fever? (would be useful info for when you call the vet). If she is refusing water, then I would call the vet sooner rather than later. |

| If she is refusing water, try to get her to eat ice cubes. And definitely call the vet.
If she's fine with the water, you should still call the vet, but it might not be something too frightening.
I know when we've had our scares in the past, as long as the pups are drinking water, our vet isn't as concerned as if they weren't. That's not to say he isn't concerned at all, just that by taking water, it means it's not as much of a red flag as it could be. Normally, they tell us to just keep an eye on them if they're taking water and bring them in if they get any worse. If they refuse water, they have us come in right away. With Herc a few months ago, he wouldn't even take ice cubes so they definitely wanted him in. |

| Okay, so she finally ate her food. She seems to be happier. We went outside and she was trying to chase a bird and seemed back to her old self. We came in and she drank some water. Not a ton, but some. Is it safe to just keep an eye on her and make sure she's drinking water? Or does this still warrant a call to the vet? |

| Huskies are sort of notorious for skipping meals. Tika skipped 2 this week. If she's still drinking water and is active I wouldnt worry too much. If she skips more than 2 or isnt drinking much, call the vet for some guidance. If she's back to herself I wouldnt really worry. |

| I've heard that they do tend to eat less at times. I just figured that would come when she's an adult. She's only 7 months old right now and she loves her food. She eats so fast usually and then tries stealing my daughters' food all the time. She acts like we're starving her. (We're not, by the way. haha) Thanks for the help. I'm not too worried about her anymore. I'm glad I can come here for quick answers. |

| I agree with Kelly. She sounds like she's perking up nicely. Just keep an eye on her and if she still seems off tonight, maybe by midmorning tomorrow you should call the vet just to ask if it's something to worry about.
Callie's not a husky but sometimes even she just decides she doesn't want a meal and skips one. There's a chance she's still teething which could be contributing to not wanting to eat and even a bit of lethargy. As long as she's drinking some water, you should be fine. Now that it's getting colder, she might not need as much as you're used to giving her. I know the other night Callie had her bowl of water with dinner like always but she didn't touch nearly as much of it. Now if she's playing a lot and running around a lot and not drinking much, that's different. But on 'lazy days' where she just catches up on her beauty sleep, I wouldn't worry if she doesn't drink as much as normal. But I get what you mean where they act like you're starving them. As soon as it's time for my dinner, Callie acts like I haven't fed her in days and watches me like a hawk. |
