| We just picked out our new husky a week or so ago, and only have 3 weeks until we can pick him up! I'm so excited. Currently, we have a 1.5 year old boxer mix and a calico kitty. We've been thinking about huskies for a while, and six months ago, almost bought a puppy from a pet store, which dealt with puppy mills--awful, awful situation. Luckily, we did our research, and have now got a beauty waiting for us at a reputable breeder's. Anyhoo, I thought I'd introduce myself, as I'm sure I'll be poking about, asking questions, for the next X years! Here's some more pics (sorry if blurry)--he is just over 3 weeks in these pics: [img] [/img][img] [/img] [img] [/img] |

| Thanks all! I think the spot is unique . I'm not sure I won't go a little stir crazy in the next couple of weeks ! Just a quick question, I've heard different suggestions on neutering. The breeder said after 6 mnths, until he's matured, but some research says that earlier might be better. Anyone have an opinion on this? [In the past, we've had bitches, and it hasn't mattered as much as far as timing. We decided on a male because we have a female at the moment--and we think they'll get along better as opposite genders.] |

| A vet tech told me on my last visit there with Lucian that she had her male dog neutered early. I think she said around 4-5 months of age. The reason being was because he hadn't started lifting his leg to pee yet, and she wanted it to stay that way. Needless to say that he still squats to pee. Something to take into consideration. Lucian will get neutered at 6 months of age. |

| What an adorable puppy! And congrats on finding a good breeder!
I'm getting my girl spayed at 5 months old, my vet recommended between 4 and 6 months of age and since we wont be here for most of December (going to Cali for Christmas) it wasn't feasible to get her done then. I didn't want her in any pain during the car ride.
Can't wait for more pictures!!! |

Congratulations to you too! Aw, he's a sweetie. So cool that you got to see him so young! I can't wait to pick our little guy up. I hate waiting for him. |

| Thanks for all the advice! We will just see how things go for a while before deciding when to neuter him. It's just so hard to know what's the "right" thing to do, so we'll base it off what is appropriate when that time comes . We still aren't set on a name yet. We've tossed the name "Volk" around. Solvenian for wolf, German for people. What do you guys think? Any suggestions? I love the name wolf, but I know it's very common for huskies. I like the idea of having a one-syllable name, so he's easier to call, but that's not too important. |
