A little background on her.. Her name is Izzy, she is a 4 year old female siberian that we adopted a year ago from a couple moving out of state. She was taken care of, but you can tell that she wasn't socialized very well. She was not spayed when we got her, we just got her spayed last month. She is a total people dog and she wants to be in your lap constantly and does amazing with my friends 5 year old daughter. I also take her to work occasionally, where i work with four women with disabilities and she just loves as much attention as she can possibly get. She does well with my 2 year old male sibe, and they've bonded to eachother and get along well.. She also did well with my female chihuahua/rat terrior mix until just recently. They got into some treats, and Izzy attacked Pebbles, leaving some wounds on her neck. I thought okay, it was just over treats if we make sure they can't get into them they'll be fine.. well, the next morning, a family member went to pick up Pebbles and she yelped and Izzy went for her again. Since then, they have been monitered at all times, and put in kennels if constant monitereing couldn't be done. Ive been home all day today, and there hasn't been any issues at all and Izzy is acting just like before the treat incident.. mostly not showing much interest in Pebbles, and has tried playing with her. When she does start showing a little interest in Pebbles, i tell her "no" and she leaves her be, no problems. Izzy and my male Wiz had a little falling out over bones when we first got her, where she became possesive and attacked him.. and then it seemed like she picked on him for a day after and then she seemed to "forget" about the bones and get over it and they haven't had any issues after that. SHe has never shown food aggression towards people, I can stick my hand in her bowel and take her food away. She does get a little excited when taking treats from the hand, but if i hold it in my fist and tell her "nice" she'll take it calmly. it just when it comes to other dogs and food it seems. I need some advice and some ideas of what i can do to work with her so i can keep all of my dogs together. Rehoming her is the last thing i want to do and i really hope it doesnt come to that, as I love her very much and she is my baby.. Also we are expecting a baby at the the end of this month, and that is another concern for us. I don't have experience dealing with aggression of this nature, so any advice is welcome! thanks in advance!!

I'm sorry you are having this kind of trouble. It must be very nerve racking and I would be in the same state of mind you are.

Without being there and seeing these interaction however the best advice you are going to get with this case is to talk to a professional as soon as you can. Explain to them the problems you are having and the triggers and together you should be able to work through it.


That being said I'm sure if we can, the members of this forum, will offer as much advice as we can.

Can you please explain this one line in greater detail?
Why did Pebbles yelp?
Could you tell if it was fearful in nature or pain related due to the prior night?
what was Pebbles doing prior to being picked up?
What was Izzy doing when it happened?
Explain in detail her fixation at that point and intensity during the yelp incident, if you can.

Sorry to give you home work right away, but I want more information on this particular situation to try and understand exactly what triggered it, and thus trying to explain how I would go about it.

This is what happened with the female husky I had and my rat terrier. I was gone and my neighbor had to rescue my little dog from her attacking him...once she did that it started happening more on a regular basis...I tried watching them super closely but she just made me too nervous because once she went into attack mode it was over...nobody could stop her and I was scared one of my kids would get in the way and get hurt. I hope you can find a solution and help your girl out
