| When Keaton went and got dog food this afternoon he ended up grabbing the newest formula to the TotW rotation Has anyone fed this to their dogs yet? | I haven't see that one at my Tractor Supply. I wonder if my girls would like it. They are typically on the High Prairie formula |

| I hadn't even heard of this, but it sounds interesting. Ava's a big fan of the Orijen regional red, so she'd probably like it. It looks really low in protein to me though, so I dunno if I'd feed it unless I was mixing it in with something. |

| I am feeding my dogs this flavor of TOTW and the results from them are very good. Cali was lil resistant for a new flavor, but she always is. The only down side I have about it personally is the smell of it, but the dogs don't care about that. I wish they would put 30 lbs in like the other bags and not sell it at same price for 28 lbs.
I hope they enjoy like Mika and Steve do. Even my foster GSD is enjoying some of it with her other food. |

| TOTW posted this a few weeks ago on their FB page, some complaints about the added pea stuff, and how the boar is lower on the list of meats so its not really wild boar.... let us know how it goes, not sure if all their formula is changing or its just this one _________________ |

| It's a shame that the boar is below the oil/fat source as that means the amount is pretty low. Looks pretty carb heavy as the beef is water inclusive which really scoots it down quite a few spots and chickpeas and peas take up the next 2 ingredients. Although there's no potato so that's nice. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! I doubt they'll change all of their formulas. At least I hope not I saw something on their FB page about how this formula is good for dogs that need lower glycemic foods, for diabetes and such. If this stops one person from buying Purina's DCO or some other crap like that, I'm all for it |

We usually don't have much of an issue switching formulas within one brand. It is usually better to be able to leave a bit in an old bag to mix with the start of the new bag, but Luna probably won't have much of a problem. |

| Well the dogs all loved it, and their stools are still normal so I think we're good so far.. - arooroomom wrote:

Do you think I should feed them less than since it's carb heavy? Embry is 55lbs and gets 2 cups, Zoey is 57 and gets 2 cups and Ares is 50lbs and gets 3 cups.. |

| Depends on the dog, Mickey balloons on carb heavy foods and so does Cheyenne. The others are fine... I think as long as its part of a rotation it should be fine to feed as you were. _________________ Force Free Training ThreadCheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! | Okay, thanks. I think we might end up sticking to this one, but we'll keep an eye on their weights for a few months and see how it is working out with them. |

| This is a low animal protein food. Peas, beans plus the worst part concetrated pea protein.
The carbohydrate level is not the issue it is the vegetable protein and the fats.
The Omega 6/3 ratio and the Omega 3 level are horrible as well.
Certainly not Dr Tim's Pursuit quality. |

| Hey I have to back TooManyHitstotheHead on this one. More often then not when the ingredient list a concentrated veg/plant protein be it corn, wheat, soy, or even pea they are of minimal benefit to the animal. With the pea protein being number eight on the list though I wouldn't lose to much sleep over it.
Quote: It is important to recognize that proteins can come in other forms as well. Quite frequently pet food companies use vegetable based protein concentrates. Unfortunately the source of the largest and most wide-spread pet food recall (2007 FDA, Melamine Pet Food Recall) was the result of contaminated protein concentrates. To get a better understanding, protein concentrates are proteins that have been stripped away from vegetable sources like corn, rice, wheat and soy. You will recognize these by the names such as corn gluten, rice protein concentrate, wheat gluten and soy protein concentrate. Indeed these protein concentrates do carry nutritional benefits, but they are often used to raise Crude Protein label values by substituting meat sources for less expensive vegetable sources. In fact these protein sources are frequently fortified to offset their shortcomings. |

| Ill be honest.. i don't miss reading labels. I don't have to check every single thing I feed now.
Not impressed with the ingredient list..anyone try it yet? |

| Mine had it and all did great on it. My favorite flavor of the TOTW rotation yet. Ares gained at least 5lbs while on it, and is finally looking good weight wise. |
