Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. | Sooooo I keep getting mixed answers. Tast of the wild says for a pup 5 - 7months old, 30 - 40lbs, should be getting 3 - 3 2/3rds cup a day. My vet said 3 cups is over feeding. I've heard mixed things on here. Lately I've been feeding her 3 Times a day. Morning 1 cup, middle of day 1/2 a cup and end of day 1 cup. She always seems hungry though. She is the type of puppy that just loves food so I'm not sure if she want a to eat to eat or just plain hungry. I did a little experiment a month ago. Just kept filling the bowl. I stopped at 2 cups in one sitting. So yeah she is "if there is food I'm eating it". Never threw up though so I was looking for opinions. How old, weight and how much do you feed your puppy? |

| Not a guideline, just one person's experience: At 7 MONTHS OF AGE ARCHER was getting 3 cups per day, 3 feedings, of Blue Buffalo puppy. He was about 43 pounds then, has never n been fat and is always in motion. That was about September so weather was neither hot not cold. Now at about 10 months, he is eating 3 -3.5 cups of TOTW, Sierra formula. He spends most of the day outside with Ami, it is cold out and they play fairly constantly. When Ami sleeps, Archer is usually still in motion. Still sleek with no trace of fat! Ami on the other hand gets between 2 and 3 cups per day, weighs about 63 pounds and occasionally gets a wee bit tubby and I have to cut back on his intake. Sorry for the caps - too hard to edit on the tablet |

| When Mishka was a puppy I was feeding him 3 cups of food until he was about 10 months old, then I cut back 1/4 of a cup every couple of weeks until he was being fed 2 cups daily. Now at almost 2 years old he gets anywhere from 1 3/4 cup to 2 cups daily. I find sometimes 2 cups is too much and he starts to look chubby and on 1 3/4 cup doesn't seem like enough. I could feed him 4 cups a day and he would still act like he was dying of hunger. He is definitely not one of those dogs that regulates himself. lol. _________________ |
