| I plan on taking my husky for a quick walk in the morning and a longer walk at night. The walk in the morning will be right before classes so it'd be nice if I didn't have to miss because she got off the leash, so I was just wondering what your personal preference is for leash/harness/collar?
I just want the strongest / most secure, maybe I'll get one sized for her |

| We've only ever had one slipped harness, and that was a car harness that we bought at Petsmart. You'll find a lot of varied answers from folks here, so it's really going to boil down to some trial and error for your particular dog. We have had good luck with the Easy Walk no pull harnesses, and others here have used EZDog as well as many others.
One big thing to take into consideration, if you're getting a puppy you really need to limit how much you walk/run them. For puppies, a good rule of thumb on walks is 5 minutes per month of age for walks on a hard surface and no running on anything but grass before 10-12 months. Too much of either could damage their growing joints. Mental stimulation and just plain running around the back yard are great for the little ones. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I really like the ezydog collar and the rok strap leash. The leash is nice because it's made out of the same bungie material as climbing equipment. The ezydog collar has a nice neoprene inside so it's soft and stays clean but this is the ONLY collar Pongo has not broken yet (4 years) |

| I use a flat collar and a leash from the Fleet Farm. I've never had any problems with them, but Snoopy knows that he's only allowed to pull in a harness, if the lead is connected to the harness, not his collar. |

| I like martingale collars. They are more difficult to slip. I just ordered a ruffwear webmaster from the backcountry k-9 sale and we'll see how I like it. A lot of people here use them and recommend them, so I'm excited to get it. |

| I don't have any insight on the collars (mine are just used to hold their tags) and right now I'm not the happiest with my harness. But I LOVE my ruff wear knot a leash. It has the locking carabiner at the end and I have not had a problem yet. |

| For collars, we frequently rotate through Ezydog's Neo Collars(www.ezydog.com), Ruffwear's Tope Rope Collars(www.ruffwear.com) and Dublin Dog's No Stink Collars(www.dublindog.com). I love all 3 companies and never have had an issue with any of their products.
For harnesses, we have quite a few different brands. I have the Ezydog Chestplate harness. We used that one a lot more then dogs were pupies, not so much anymore since there are a lot more sturdy harnesses out there, but I do still like this harness for something simple. I also have the Ezydog Convert harness which I LOVE, it's a fantastic harness and is very tough. We also have Alpine Outfitter's custom X-Back harness(www.alpineoutfitters.net) and these are great if your dog is going to be doing a lot of pulling, like biking, roller bladding or even hiking.
For leashes, I prefer just my simple Mendota Slip lead (http://www.mendotaproducts.com/) The dog can't back out of them, and you don't need to worry about a clip coming undone and the dog getting away. I use these ALL the time, unless it's somewhere that they need a harness on. If they have a harness on, they are usually wearing a Ruffwear Slackline Leash, which I love and haven't had issues with any of them. |

| weiss walkie leash
I have a normal collar from walmart but use a weiss walkie leash when I take her places. It acts like a harness but she won't slip it like she has a harness before. No backing out of it or her collar this way. Kinda acts like a choke collar only around her chest so she doesn't actually get choked. It's worked great for us and is way easier to get on her than a harness. _________________ |
