Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Have you tried Husky Haven of Los Angeles? Or Husky Camp? Alley's Rescued Angels? NorSled? (norcal rescue but still an option) They are amazing rescue groups (breed specific) that would be able to find foster homes and perfect forever homes.

Hi Artin,

I help out with rescue in LA and will be honest with you. All the rescues are full because too many people are breeding huskies and selling them on craigslist. Then the new owners either can't handle them or don't make arrangements for pet friendly homes when they move.

The rescues will take the dogs on death row first before owner surrenders because they are more in danger (dogs have 5 days at the shelter before they are eligible for euthanization due to overcrowding - owner surrenders are eligible to killed immediately. I just pulled a dog yesterday that came in on 8/29 and was scheduled to be killed). If your dogs show any signs of being sick or unfriendly, they'll kill them before that. Many huskies don't make it out of the shelter because a foster home or rescue cannot take them. So do NOT take them to the shelter.

You may be able to get one of the rescues to courtesy list them while you keep them. If you are unable to keep them, are you able to have a family member or friend keep them until they get adopted?

If you decide to rehome them yourself, please be very careful about who you rehome them with and do a home check. Unfortunately, LA has rampant dog fighting and they use free dogs as bait dogs. Or worse. And if you rehome your dog with someone, you never know if that dog gets rehomed again or ends up in the shelter.

I'm telling you the cold hard truth because I see this every day. It's heartbreaking. if there is any way you can keep them and make adjustments in your life to keep them, you should do so. I wish you the very best of luck and hope that your huskies will find the forever home they deserve.
