| Subject: A problem with water! Sun Aug 26, 2012 3:36 pm | |
| Okay so here is the background to my problem:
Rocky stays inside a lot because it's very hot in Kansas right now (After all is Kansas) and during the day he usually doesn't want to go out. We had a big water bowl for him but he would spill it all the time and then lay on top of the water. So I bought a automatic waterer that he couldn't just spill, but then he started digging A LOT and getting everything soaked. I mean, it was a 5 gallon bowl and it would be gone in 5 seconds. So my next attempt was to buy him a small kids pool from walmart and put his water bowl inside of it. He loves it! He will still dig some of his water but it stays in the pool and then he just lays on it, it wasn't the perfect solution because he would still be wet and got around the house getting everything else wet, but it wasn't as bad as it could. Buuuuuut ....
So here is the actual problem:
What he will do, and I'm not sure how often he does it but I know it's not only in the pool, is that he will pee while he is drinking water. Not only in the pool but also around the other smaller bowls in the house. I knew he did it before because i saw him doing it a couple of times when I first got him, but I thought it was just puppy bladder relaxing after getting cool. Because he lays on the pool it gets really bad because he is taking the pee with him everywhere! I don't know for sure how to correct it, it's really the only time he pees in the house any other time he needs to pee he goes to the door and whines.
I could get rid of the pool if he would stop digging, but I don't know how to make him stop that.
Or should I just give it some time and he will stop the peeing while drinking water? It's not even like he is peeing around his bowl after/before drinking water, it's always WHILE he drinks water.
This is really a problem I don't know how to deal with, please help!! |

| I'm not experienced with this, but another member also had a peeing issue. Read this topic: It may help! Balon and his Peeing Issues - RESULTSIt's 5 pages long, but very informative. I know yours is only triggered but water, but it could be connected somehow! Good luck! |

| Thank you for the link! I read through the post and all the answers, and I will try talking to my vet about it but I still think it's weird he will only do it when he is drinking water. he will hold the whole night, and in usually on thursdays that I have almost my whole morning busy, he will still hold it (or at least I think he does because first thing i let him out and he pees a lot). I'm not sure when he pees in the water, how frequent it is. I haven't seen him doing it in a long time I just see that the water smells like pee and is yellowish, or the towels around the bowl yellow when I wash it. One of my roommates said she saw him peeing once. I've been trying to catch him doing it but haven't yet |
