Luna doesn't like sleeping on bedding at all Empty
PostSubject: Luna doesn't like sleeping on bedding at all   Luna doesn't like sleeping on bedding at all EmptyThu Oct 25, 2012 8:56 am

Hi, looking for advice. Luna won't sleep on any type of bedding, when we brought her home we did crate training for the first week to get used to the house and us and we had a normal dog pillow in it and she would just shove it out of the way and lie beside it on the plastic tray base. We figured she just found it too warm and she seemed happy enough, she sleeps outside now and in her kennel/house we put in the bed again as its concrete slabs. Came out and found the bed in shreds outside and all the stuffing taken out and some of it packed into a corner.

I had a pretty robust mattress type bed I put In next and I surprised her as she was dragging it out of her house and trying to take it apart. She genuinely isn't bored or anything, just prefers not lying on soft things. The concern I have is that she was lying on the concrete in her house and I was afraid she might get cold in her joints. I know huskies are built for extreme elements but is sleeping rough something they like.

I've compromised with her and I have put a nice firm solid wooden pallet into her house and I think she sleeps on that but I also left some floor exposed in case she is just humouring me.

During the day time she likes to nap at the back door with her head on the step, and a rainy day is not a problem, she just lies out in it or runs around.

Balon doesn't like anything in his crate, not a blanket, towel or bed! He will move it aside and sleep on the plastic crate liner, he prefers the hardwood or tile floors over carpet. I guess its just cooler for him, when the AC was on he slept right in front of the vent lol.

It's pretty mild here all year around but it can be damp. Is she just waterproof and hardcore.

I live in Singapore, hot tropical country. Coco refused to sleep on any kind of bed even with air conditioner turned on for her 24-7. Until I found The Green Pet shop cool gel bed. She will sleep on it for about 2 hrs then sleep on hard tile floor. But she'll go back on it when the bed is cool again. Totally, she'll sleep several hours on it. So I'm glad that I found this bed. You may want to try.

I am in MI and this summer Onyx wouldn't sleep on any bedding. He prefers the tile floors as well. He too would sleep in front of the AC in the kitchen when he got too warm. Shortly after we got him he would the same as Luna with his kennel pillow, he would make a ruckus until it was pushed out of the way and would sleep on the hard plastic crate bottom. I wouldn't take it as an issue, after all their breed is used to sleeping in snow and on frozen ground. Smile
