I would get her started on a flea/tick treatment immediately. Frontline has a flea spray that I heard is pretty good. Flea's can be deadly to puppies (flea bite anemia). I'm not sure if you have a flea shampoo for you're puppy, but not all shampoo's are safe for young dog's under 6 month's old. You can use dawn dish soap on you're pup and a flea comb. Dawn is mild enough to use on you're pup, but it has an ingredient that kill's fleas. Let the soap lather sit on the pup for a couple minutes before rinsing. Be very careful not to get any in the puppies eyes!

Hi!

How many weeks old is she?

Another bath will not do her any harm, however not bathing her while she has fleas may, especially at such a young age.

If she is getting rashes from the fleas or from her scratching, she could have sensitive skin or a flea allergy, if it continues i would recommend taking her to a vet to get a proper diagnosis done.

Have you taken her to the vet since you got her? it may be a good idea to take her to one and get a general check up if she hasn't been to one yet.

Do you have any photos of the rash she comes up with?

Oh. Well, she is only 5 weeks old. You won't be able to use any flea topicals and I wouldn't advise sprays at all. She is WAY to young, but that's my opinion.

Bathe her in dawn dish soap, use a flea comb and try to get all that you can. Then, wash all of her bedding, your bedding if he has been in it and vacuum all floors and carpets. I also vacuum furniture to be safe.

She is very, very young. Did you say your cousin has the sister? Just some advice, but you need to keep them together as much as possible. These are vital times in puppy growth mentally and behaviorally.

She could have a skin irritation, or it could be an issue with her food, or the shampoo you used when you bathed her last, or fleas.

There are a number of reasons as to why she could be be scratching a lot, do you have a vet you can take her too?

Maybe she has an allergy to something? I would suggest taking her to the vet too. Just in case.

She's VERY beautiful by the way!

5 weeks old?! Ugh, that's soo young.

My advice would be take her to the vet. If you've pulled fleas off of her, I guarantee you that there are more. You'll want to get something from the vet specifically for fleas that is safe to use on a puppy that young.

Also, as a general tip, read up on bite inhibition. Make sure you start working with her NOW. At 5 weeks old, she is missing CRUCIAL time with her litter-mates learning and you'll have to work on teaching her those lessons yourself. In the future, don't go to a breeder who is giving puppies away that young. It's incredibly irresponsible. It's not your fault, so don't fret about it, but puppies should really stay with their litter-mates until they are 8 weeks old in order to be fully adjusted.

Welcome and good luck with the fleas. They can be a real pain. We had them with our cat a few years ago and it took us a year to rid the house of them.
