| We are in the midst of a heat wave in Oregon. I live in the country and someone dumped two cats on my road. They seem to think my house would be a great place to live. They are sleeping on my porch and walking around my house all day mewing. I haven't fed them or induced them to stay.
Bodhi is going beserk! He tries to get out the screens at them. He paces back and forth between doors looking for the cats. I've got all the windows closed so he can't see them, but he still can hear them. I have "encouraged" them to leave by bringing him out on a leash. But it doesn't have any effect. They keep coming back.
I feel trapped. I can't leave for fear he'll injury himself trying to get at them from his dog run. The Humane Society says it's taking appointments for cat intake and the wait time is a month. Animal Control is 45 minutes away. They will take one cat a day. When I asked if I could bring one and my wife could bring one, they said no. The Oregon Cat Adoption Society makes the finder keep the cats in his own house until they are adopted. My one hope is a "cat lady" at the vets who says she "might" take them tomorrow if I pay for the vet examination.
I really am trying to do the compassionate, humane thing but it's hard. I am allergic to cats. I don't want them in my car If they stay here, either Bodhi or a coyote will eventually get them. Ideas?

| We had a similar issue when we first got Kody. This kitty decided to make himself "ours" and wouldn't leave. I couldn't take the dogs out because they would go insane. Wouldn't even potty! Not to mention that I couldn't leave the house with them because the cat was literally at my front door. I was so frustrated! Went through this for about 2 weeks and one day it was just gone. Never seen again. |

| I'm sure if you show up with two cats at AC and just leave them there, they will have no choice! Maybe post them on craigslist and see if anyone is interested. _________________ -Sara |

| Asked them that. They said no.
Asked if I could have a neighbor bring one with me. They said no and hung up! |

| Can you find any family or friends to foster them until you can find a permanent solution?
Are they friendly or feral? |

| They are friendly, Megan, but one scratched my wife this afternoon. It's 100 degrees here and we broke down and fed the little one. We haven't seen the mother (?) in two days The vet lady has agreed to take one tomorrow. Just got to get through tonight. It's mewing and scratching at the door right now. |

| Do you have a garage or some kind of shelter you could house the kitten in? Even a spare room...I know its not ideal, but it may give Bodhi a break if you can get the thing quiet. |

| We 've got the back of the house closed off so Bodhi can't get back there now. The cat is outside on a covered porch. I'm allergic to cats and I'm not letting it inside. Feeding it was a bad idea, because now it's clawing at the door. Hopefully, it will be easier to catch in the AM now that we did, though. |

| Oh yes, sorry I did read that earlier - I'm sure it will be. If you can't get him right away, leave a kennel or box on the porch with food in it - easy as pie. |

| Trapped one this morning and took him/her to the vet. They are charging me for spaying and adoption out fee. WTF? "No good deed ever goes unpunished."
Another one showed up this afternoon. It's little too, about the same age as the one we took to the vet. So I''ve still got two.
Hard not to resort to the hose treatment. |
