We thought our 7 month old puppy was past the teething stage, but over the last week or so we've noticed that he is chewing on things a real lot. Much more than he had been. Over the last two days he destroyed a hard plastic teething toy and one of our training clickers. Is it possibly that he is still teething? Just curious!

Can you tell if he has all his adult teeth? Balon does and still likes to chew, but Balon is only 5 1/2 months. Some of his adult teeth are still fully coming in, he has them but like his canines aren't down all the way yet.

Some dogs just like to chew, like my lab! Get him plenty of chew toys.

Yes, he definitely has all his adult teeth. We had the vet check that for us when he was neutered. He definitely has plenty of chew toys. Probably just another phase!

My guy likes to chew as well, as while he's teething he really really likes the cow hoof I got him, He spends hours chewing it and nothing else. Maybe that will help your guy?

Most dogs go through two chewing phases. The first is because they are teething and the second is more exploratory. Sounds to me like your guy is in the exploratory phase. I feel your pain as Saphire is just starting hers.

So get a variety of things that are appropriate for him to chew on and use redirection. Saphire is a huge fan of the cow hoof as well (I don't care for it as much because it stinks when she chews on it, but it makes her happy so I deal and spray a little fabreeze). I also provide Saphire with sticks of various sizes (which may have been the reason she de-barked my tree yesterday, so use caution), rope toys and things that are not as easy to tear into pieces.

At any rate, I think it is just a phase so good luck!

Balon LOVES rope toys, I have like four of them because the lab likes them too.
