My mom has been looking for a dog for a while. Today her manager told her about a pit bull she found in a field that had apparently been used as a bait dog ;( He needs vet care as he has wounds from an apparent fight that he refused to participate in. Her Manager said he was very loving. She took him home with her last night when she found him. Well actually, her dogs found him as she was letting them exercise. He’s very pitiful. She said he has the saddest eyes. She has called the Pitt Rescue but she is not sure if she will hear back from them before she goes out of town tomorrow. She does not want to call animal control as she says they will just put him to sleep. So Mom has agreed to take him in and if all goes well this weekend I think she'll keep him.
I can say I'm really surprised she did this as she had been thinking of getting a husky for a while now but I can't be more proud of her!
Hopefully going by her house tonight to see him and I'll take pics and update Wish her and the new guy luck!

AW! What a happy outcome! I love pits! Glad to hear that that he will be getting the care and love he deserves!

I hope it works out! It breaks my heart to hear about dogs being used in fighting.

That's awesome that she's saving him! All of the pitties we know are the goofiest, sweetest things! I hate hearing about dog fighting!

My mom is already wrapped This dog is gorgeous even with all his wounds I'm thinking the rings around his nose is from his mouth being tied shut with something. His pads are swollen... possibly from being on hot asphalt. She's taking him in to the vet first thing tomorrow (I'm going with her) So will update more then.

awww he is so cute! Definitely looks like his mouth was tied shut, or maybe a tight muzzle, both my greyhounds had marks on their muzzles from wearing tight muzzles to race.

Thanks to your mom! I have a huge soft spot for Pitts. I have wanted to rescue one for so long.

Love that people still can go out of their way to help an animal in desperate need.

That's awesome she's rescuing him! We recently rescued one off the streets as well several months ago I love Pitbulls, they're such sweethearts. I hope he starts to feel better! Poor baby

Update on Jake Mom took him to the vet today because he has green stuff coming out of his "peter". Dr. Darch gave her antibiotics for him and also said he's got a 2 out of 6 heart murmur. I guess that's not bad... never dealt with that before. But here are some pictures I took of him yesterday! He's looking so good! And mom is just IN LOVE <3

2-3/5 is what Bella was diagnosed with. It's not terrible - but you have to go to a cardiologist and find out what the actual cause of the murmur is to really know and to see if they want to put him on any medication or find out what your other options are in regards to it.

He's such a beautiful boy. <3

I was hoping you'd read this Didn't see you on FB chat but I knew that Bella had one and you might have some helpful insight. I'd let mom know about that. The vet didn't seem worried about it but just told her to watch for coughing.

That brought me to tears. What a tragic story. I hold a special place in my heart for Pit's and that story is just heartbreaking. The first dog I came in contact with was a Pit and we were best bud's. I love the breed! It's such a shame they are so misunderstood.


Edit: That is so sweet that you're mom helped this poor dog out! I wish more people were like her and took in animals that are in need of help, despite the breed. He has beautiful markings and I'm sure he is going to be a great dog! Did the vet estimate how old he could be?

I cried watching that video. My friend has a pit and he is one of the nicest dogs I've ever met.
