| I got the call today. Trying to relocate 4 Siberian Huskies! Phew!
They are all at our local kill shelter. :/ I think they are only giving me until Wednesday. We are near Pensacola and Panama City, Florida. Anywhere within a 2-3 hour range would be great.
I checked www.siberianrescue.com ...thinking that might not be accurate....must be more out there!

Yes, we are posting all over Facebook. Seems like most of the Florida Rescue's are in South Florida, so I'm looking into south GA, LA, AL, MI...we are all alone out here on the Gulf! Boo! |

| There's Husky Haven of Florida, but I don't think they have any foster homes open. _________________ -Sara |

| We're so close, I'll ask around with some of my friends and see who would be willing to foster one. I know at least a couple who are thinking about getting a dog.
I'd love to take one, but a. I don't think I can talk Aaron into it and b. we're getting married and going on a honeymoon in 2 weeks, so probably not good timing for fostering. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I know a lot of members on this forum who have male and female dogs, and they all get along well. You can always do a meeting and see how they get along. Neutral ground is best for that, like at a dog park. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Ok- from my work in rescue - the trick to getting them out of the shelter and into rescue is 1. a foster home and 2. donations for the pull fees (the bail out fees). I always start by pledging $25 on the dog to get the ball rolling. I've gotten numerous dogs out this way - rescues love to help but don't have room. Boom - 1. Foster - taken care of! Rescues are short on money. Boom - 2. bail out fees - taken care of! Dunno about Florida - but here bail outs are $100 per dog - $50 plus $50 for neutering (only $50 if they're neutered). Edit - if you can get a registered puller to pull the dog (e.g. official rescue puller) - the fees go down or are sometimes $0.
If you can't find local foster, there are facebook pages listing transports. If anyone can do a short-term foster, I'm sure you can find someone travelling to another state to drop off a dog. There's a network of truckers that do it.
Best of luck!!! |

| Silvertoast - you can offer to foster one of the sibes. If it works out - yay! If it doesn't - it'll get adopted out! A win/win situation for all! Good luck! |

| Thank you all for the help! Len, great links, I had planned on putting the two (possible three) boys on petfinder under lost/found AND checking Craigslist, so THANK YOU ahead of time!!! Meredith, no worries, I know you've got a lot planned, especially this month!! Chad, I would be happy to have you look into fostering...sounds like a great plan first! If you are truly interested, please private message me on here and I'll forward you the link for the fostering application! I will get pics up on here too, asap. Jennet, thank you so much for posting again on Facebook! Once we go today and get more information on them, I will update everyone here and on FB and hopefully get better pictures. Sam...excellent, thank you so much! We are fortunate that our local shelter just gives them to us! We are working to educate all the shelter employees about Sibes, but they don't seem willing to learn much. Nearly all of them are labeled food aggressive and the shelter thinks, literally, they are a pain in the a$$. LOL |

| I have one husky (a 5 month old female), and I am considering fostering one of these for you, but I'd definitely need more information (since I've never fostered a dog) before I make my final decision. Please let me know... we need to help these poor babies. |

The other nice thing is that I am driving to Chicago in April, so if there's anyone that would like a "special delivery" that's located anywhere between Milton, FL and Chicago, IL (or a slight deviation from the route) ... PLEASE LET ME KNOW! My home and my heart are big enough to let in another puppy in need. |

| *sigh* Well, all the foster homes I've found have not been approved. Can't catch a break this week!! Looks like another rescue is taking the two owner surrenders that came in together. Stray Male has until Monday. Trying to get them to let me take him so we can find him a home...looks like he belonged to someone in Destin. Haven't found any info on him yet. Wondering why people wouldn't think to look at a shelter. Does anyone know why owner surrenders get euthanized first? |

| Ah, I see what you mean...the stray hold is there in case anyone claims them. Yes, euthanizing for space. Huskies don't last in the shelter here. I'm bent on saving Shelter today! |
