| I have been visiting daily and posting when I can, probably replying to PM's more than positing but we are still here So as some of you may know, Luka was jumped by a big mean dog a couple of days ago and I only noticed the puncture today. I cleaned it up best I could and took him to the vet earlier today. Seeing as it isn't fresh she couldn't stitch it up, but she shaved the area and prescribed antibiotics and insisted that I make an effort to keep it clean. I'm just really annoyed with myself for not spotting it earlier - it was so well covered by the fur - and he never even complained! Here is a picture of the shaved area/puncture: And here is the brave little guy in all his glory (I know you all love pictures ) |

| Aw! It should heal fine. Keeping it clean and letting the natural healing process take it's course is usually the best thing to do. It may start to look really pick/red after a while, that's normal, the granulation tissue will start to heal it from the inside out. Where is it located? |

| Ouch! Sorry to here that your baby got hurt. But glad to see that he is handling it well. At least he isn't in terrible pain. Hope it heals quickly.

| your main picture with you carrying him, he looks like Diego's TWIN when he was younger. Poor little guy. If you can get your hands it, ABADY makes a powdered supplement that you mix into their food and it works wonders for overall health and fur growth. Diego got shaved for surgery and a friend recommended it and I haven't stopped using it since. His fur came back in NO time hope the littly guy heals fast! |

Thats what we are doing. I did think last night it looked really red after his walk, but thanks for letting me know its nothing to worry about Its located on his but lol, looking from behind, its on the back of his left thigh. - dbingham12 wrote:

Ouch indeed! He's been so brave :/ I can't believe it had been there for two days before I noticed it! It seems to have already got narrower, I'd hate to have seen it when it was fresh, can't imagine how wide it was No, he's just become really cuddly, but no pain by the looks of things! He hates his cone - and I can be at home for the next week so I'm always with him to make sure he isn't licking it. - jbealer wrote:

No, you didn't, this has been the first thread concerning the issue. Yeh, I know right, he's like 28/29KG now @ 10months - I think thus around 56/58LBS. Still so lean for his height so it will be interesting to see what his final weight will be in a years time or so. If he loses his ball under the couch, he kicks up the biggest fuss until we retrieve it for him - with a gash on his leg though, he didn't even try to draw my attention to it! Talk about priorities lol. - Diego&Roscoe wrote:

He was quite young then, 5 months or so. I will look into ABADY or something similar- we have very little available to us in the UK when it comes to pets compared to you guys in the US! How long did it take for Diego's fur to grow back? Its not so noticeable when he's up and about because of where it is but he just looks so naked lol. - MelissaI wrote:

Thank-you. It is a shame because he is such a lovely pup with a great temperament - clearly not all dogs are the same |

| Poor guy! He is very brave and I am sure that you were more gutted and worried about it then he is! Tama got nipped square on the nose when he was a pup by a little jack russell... a known nipper in our neighbourhood... too bad we got the warning afterwards...
You said he is 10 months and about 58 lbs??? I wonder because my (BIG) baby Tama is just about * months and already 60lbs... he is crossed with a lab, but we will see how big he gets... he has already passed the vets estimate! |

| Its so annoying when they get nipped like that and the smaller dogs always get away with it!! wow 60lbs at 8 months, he's gonna be huge If say at least 80lbs! |

| Poor Luka! Dog attacks are so frustrating, hang in there. Mine always seem a bit shaken up a few days after an attack but bounce back eventuality. |

He handled it pretty well but we're just having trouble with his energy levels! I'm not letting him exert himself too much because I'd rather it close up ASAP and he can get back to his normal routine - he definitely doesn't like it! |
