I was just looking back at my pictures from 2010 and 2011 - I forgot how it all looked! I'm so happy I have this thread! It's fun to see how my flower garden has morphed over the last couple of seasons.

Since my mom-in-law, Pammy, planted some stuff in October 2011, I'm curious to see what she did. I know she planted Crocuses (is that the right spelling?), Daffodils, and the Iris bulbs that Jenn split from her garden, and some other bulb that I can't remember the name. I have no idea where she put it all! So it'll be a surprise as they pop up!

Stay tuned for pictures of what's popping out of the ground!....

Beautiful! Love the crocus especially! I hope your stargazers come back, they're my favorites of the Asiatic lilies.

I love flowers but can't seem to get in to gardening. Wish I could but I just go out there and start digging and get so overwhelmed with how much work there is to do and give up and have a drink...lol! I will just live vicariously through you all!

LOL!
I'm not all that into gardening either - I love to have flowers, but don't like digging in the dirt. I just buy the stuff. Luckily, hubby and Pammy (MIL) loves gardening so I just say what kind of flowers I like, and they have at it. Pammy is more artistic when gardening, and I think I am going to pleasantly surprised as the plants and flowers start to come in.

Oh my gosh, so pretty! Forgive me if you've said this before, but what are those bushes you have in the back there that are currently void of leaves?

Burning bushes. The leaves start out green, and by Fall, they 'burn' and turn deep red.

Yes, Jenn has a big one on the right side of her house if you're facing the house from the street. I don't want mine to get that big, but I wish it was more full. A friend had some that were really full and when it burned it was so pretty!

So the leaves fall off of your burning bushes in the winter? Here in VA, ours just get kind of nasty looking (kind or a red + green = brown look) all winter until they green up in the spring.

Looking good, Claudia! I need to update my thread. I think I could have watched my plants actually growing today. There is so much more growth on them now than first thing this morning!

I wish I could take credit, but last Fall, hubby's mom came and planted the bulbs and mixed in compost in the entire retaining wall which I think, with the early Spring, made everything come in healthy! Hubby maintains the front and backyard. I just water my herb garden!
