| So Brewer decided it was in his interest to ingest two smallish avocados tonight.
He is ~3yrs old and weighs 53lbs.
A bit of research brings up heart issues and vomiting / diarrhea.
Is there any reason to be concerned and see the need to take action, or do we just give it time?
Thanks |

| From what I've read about dogs and avocados, seems to say not to worry and just watch for stomach upset. In fact, the toxicity of avocados is debated for dogs. Watch for vomiting/diarrhea which could be triggered by the high fat content alone. Did he eat the pits? They can cause a blockage.
I would just watch for symptoms for the next 12 hours. |

| might not be a bad idea to give your local eVet or animal poison control a call just to see. Poison control will charge you a $60 (I think) fee, but when Ghost ate the lilies it was worth it in my mind. Hopefully he doesn't have any issues. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | He didn't eat the pits thankfully, and focused his attention on the flesh and a bit of the skins.
We called an emergency vet clinic in our area, and they said to look for vomiting and diarrhea.
I guess we will see what the rest of the night brings. Man, I could use a good nights rest... <crosses fingers> |

| Pits were the main concern, but as noted the high fat content can reek havoc on the pancreas. (Do a Google) |

| Approximaitely 12hrs after consumption, Brewer's first elimination was relatively normal. I think we are in the clear as far as vomiting and diarrhea go.
Energy level is normal, behavior is normal, no noticable pain on his part, and he definitely has an appetite. |
