Ok so I'm new to the breed and I have had sapphira for about 2 months. Ive noticed that when she goes pee she goes a little here and a little there like 5 times around the yard before shes fully done. Ive read somewhere where there urethra can be displaced or something like that? My other dogs dont do this, and I was just wondering if this is normal?
P.s. I have lots of questions so ill probably post a lot

Some female dogs will mark just like males but this sounds like typical symptoms of a UTI to me if she's doing it every time especially in her own yard.

Also, you may want to check if she's having difficulty controlling her bladder sphincter (which would also lead to incontinence symptoms - peeing while resting, sleeping..etc). Hopefully this isn't your case but it seems to be common for female Huskies who've been fixed and have low hormones as a result.

Alright. Well ive been watching her extra close and I honestly think shes just marking her territory because she will pee like normal and then she will go wherever my female chihuahua goes. Shes not fixed but I also do not plan to breed her. I'm still obviously taking her to the vet lol Thanks for your advice though!

LOL, 2 of our 3 dogs are females and we also observe some competition in the who-can-place-their-scent-in-the-most-prominent-location category. It's funny when it's just that, but you need to see if they are trying to set their rank. If so, at some point you'll have to modify your feeding/playing order to respect that otherwise skirmishes between a Husky and a Chihuahua are probably not a good thing if they get out of hand.

Oh I definatly know that for sure. But with my chihuahuas the vet said its best to leave food out at all times because something about there sugar and hemoglobin and there sugar can drop easily but anyways food is out at all times they don't really fight about that just treats like raw hide. But sapphira knows that ally is the leader of the pack and doesn't mess with her thankfully lol

Yes I plan on doing that later on after I get shots out of the way. When would be a good time to do so? While shes still young or older? I got my cats fixed young but I don't know if I should do the same for sapphira?

Well, many vets suggest when they are young. I've been reading into it and I will be waiting to neuter Cato until he is around 18 months of age. I want to be sure he grows to his optimum stature. Delilah was a rescue, we spayed her aroun16 months. I'm glad we did, because she was miserable and hard to control as an adult - I can't imagine dealing with a 6 month old puppy.

It's your choice. Just start doing your research. If you do decided to spay her early, the likelihood of her ending up with mammary tumors is significantly decreased.

Thank you for the advice. I have done research prior to getting her. I knew some major health risks and of course my vet will be checking her out here in the next couple of weeks
