| Hi, I'm new to this forum so I'll just make a quick introduction. I have a 14 month old Siberian Husky Titus and a 2 month old Alaskan Malamute Lycan. I got Titus when he was 4 1/2 months old. He has always been a picky eater. Never stick to the same thing for more than 2 days. Since I got Lycan, I saw a change in him. He started eating dry food!! He would finish 1 cup in the morning and 1 1/4 cup in the evening. Don't get me wrong. He is not jealous of the pup and he is really protective towards Lycan. He has been eating dry kibble for a week now - Earthborn Hollistic Coastal Catch and Primitive Natural. Both ALS. Then yesterday morning he only ate half a cup but he finish his usual dinner. This morning he only grabbed a few bites and walk away.
I ordered 2 small packets of TOTW Pacific Stream and Sierra Mountain to try on them. I really like the review of this food besides the Diamond Pet Recall. But I did checked. The TOTW supplied to Australia is made in the plant in CA. So it should be fine.
I will put both of them on the same food because the little one does whatever Titus is doing. Kind of like an idol to him. Wouldn't eat a different food and he's sensitive to grain. My concern is can I alternate their food between Pacific Stream and Sierra Mountain on a day to day basis. I know most dogs can't take that. Both of my dogs are fine when I switch them from Earthborn Primitive Natural to Coastal Catch. No diarrhea, no upset tummies. They enjoy the differrent flavour they get everyday.
I would appreciate some advise on this matter. |

| I saw formula in your title and immediately thought baby formula! lol. I would try alternating and if they don't have a problem with it, just keep doing it. I don't alternate that often (daily) but I alternate formulas after my two finish off a bag which is usually once a month. I switch them cold turkey to the new formula and they do fine. _________________ -Sara |

| What do you think about TOTW? I know generally Orijen is better. But I can't get Orijen nor Acana in Australia. |

| TOTW is a good food. Mine did fine on it, but I switched back to Acana mainly because one of my girls gained too much weight on TOTW for some reason. _________________ -Sara |

| I used to alternate between the Sierra Mountain formula and the High Prairie formula when I was feeding TOTW. Kale's a little sensitive so i did a 3-4 day transition. |

I do the same thing and I use TOTW. I try to alternate each month and switch them cold turkey...no problems. I would say as long as it doesn't disrupt their systems, go for it. |

Ditto, if their tummies can handle it, there's no harm in switching more frequently. _________________ |

| I noticed my older one started eating more and was way less picky when I got the second puppy. Its great, I used to always wonder if she was getting enough food. Now that the weather has turned much warmer they arent eating as much, they are just laying around instead of running all the time. I dont completely switch them, but I will get a smaller bag of another food and add it in for a little flavor change. I do notice a differnce sometimes, but most of the time they are great. |

| Switching foods is foolish and has no basis in science. All the reasons you read about, like allergies, are totally false. In fact, it can make life worse for a dog that is genetically predisposed to protein allergies. The more exposure the dog has to different proteins, the worse off it is. Dog also have a very slow pancreas so even if stools are solid, switching causes assimilation problems.
When you hear some recommend switching every bag or feeing one thing in the morning and another at night or mixing foods, chances are the person has no real experience with dogs.
