2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. The bottom of the list leaves me speechless, and to think they are called rescues.

From what I saw, the rescues didn't have many dogs PTS. Did I miss something? The shelters and animal controls had the most, but of course some of those have insanely high intakes!

It's BAD here. They put down animals here like it is nothing. The spca here had to step in and MAKE them hold adoption events. They really do nothing to get all of the animals adopted.
Quote :
In January[2011], animal services reports that 149 animals were adopted, while 64 were reclaimed by owners. But another 510 were euthanized simply due to a lack of time and space. Those that were put down spent an average of 10 days in the shelter.
Quote :
From Oct. 1, 2010, through Sept. 30, 2011, the city's last fiscal year, the shelter put down 6,600 animals. That's 3,450 fewer than the year before and less than half of the 13,124 euthanized in fiscal year 2008, said Aaron Vannoy, the city's animal services manager.

There's some shelters around here that only hold the animals for 10 days and then they are pts no matter if they had room or not. I heard from someone that the shelter is usually mostly empty because they do that. Sad

But then there are other shelters like the one I volunteer for who go way out of their way to do adoption events year round, set up a volunteer and foster program, and hold adoptable pets for as long as they can. I know recently a pitt mix who had been at the shelter for 7 months finally got adopted! They also try to place as many animals as possible in rescue. This weekend I'll be helping with their 'Smitten with Kittens' event on Saturday. Smile Hopefully it will be a good turn out and we can adopt out a bunch of cats!

At the Michigan humane society there is a 4 day hold for strays trout tags/microchip...7 day if they do have one of them.

afterthat they do temperament testing. Thankfully they don't automatically euthanize Pitts and other breeds that get a bad rep.

The saddest part is that there is a pet store less than 2 miles down the street selling huskies for 1600..no they aren't show quality,
