Subject: What to give as treats Wed May 23, 2012 12:05 am
I do like to have My boy have a treat inside a bone at 12 n 5pm each day. To keep busy n happy. I did buy these chicken n beef flavored biscuits shaped like dog bones but seem way too much in one serving. Guess I should break itin half maybe??
Rawhides are good but get boring after awhile for Neko...
Cheese/peanut butter are great but cause loose stool if tooo much is taken in.
What are you guys/gals feeding your pups/dogs for treat snacks??? Or am i stuck with rawhides n biscuits??

I give Kale Zuke Z bones, and make my own treats. My pumpkin ones are his favorite lol. No rawhide here; recently had an emergency surgery at work due to a chunk of rawhide that was lodged in the small intestines...
During our daily "training"/"I'm giving you treats because I love you but you have to do something for them" sessions ( ), I give him Zuke Minis and Beef liver. I let him pick; I hold the packages of each one and he paws or noses at the ones that he wants lol
ETA: fruits and veggies are always a hit as well

I give them knuckle bones, bully sticks and pig ears to chew on and keep them occupied.
For training we use Zukes Natural Training Treats

For a long lasting treats I give my guy's frozen beef knee caps or frozen bison marrow bones.
For training treats I use deli meat (roast beef is their favorite), string cheese, & turkey hot dog's.
When I make dinner I will trim off the fat or parts of the meat I don't want to eat myself and give it to them as well. They absolutely love this! I feed it to them raw.
I use to give them rawhides/bully sticks, but I found that it gave my dog's really bad gas.
Here's a good video on how you can make you're own chicken jerky treats at home

I make my own treats and do buy a couple here and there. But no rawhide for my doggy's. There are dog treat recipes all over the internet and they are cheap and easy to make.

For those of you that make your own treats, what are your dogs favorite recipes? I'd love to try making my own. I think I'm probably going to try the chicken jerky that Hayden_69 posted.
