PostSubject: wont potty outside?   wont potty outside? EmptySun Jan 17, 2010 2:56 pm

so, my husky has a doggy door, which goes onto a deck that is surrounded by chicken wire so he doesn't jump off and run loose. thats where he used the bathroom when he was a puppy, because we didn't let him touch the ground til he had all of his parvo shots, since we live in a neighborhood with so many animals.

well anyways, he still uses the bathroom out their, but when we take him on walks, even for 2 or 3 hours at a time, he WILL NOT use the bathroom, then when you bring him back in, he goes straight threw the doggy door to the deck and does his business.

when we walk alot of the neighborhood dogs walk with us, and he sees all of them, boys and girls, using the bathroom outside

im not really sure what to do to teach him to go outside, therefore im afraid to take him to stay with me anywhere, because he will end up going to the bathroom in their house....

any advice please share. every little bit helps (:

ohhhh and, this place is my savior, and im sooooo thankful for everyone and their input and comments. I feel completely welcome here and i love every minute of it (:

¿Are you trying to get him to "go outside"? ¿Or are you trying to get him to go on walks? I'm just a bit befuddled.

I think she wants him to use the grass and not the deck anymore? and if he uses the grass at the house he will go on walks? I think by cleaning his old area and maybe even blocking it off somehow so he can't use it would be a good idea, we have not dealt with poppies and I think with all the stories I keep hearing I might never get a puppy. I think here4thepics has a good suggestion.
