| Hello everyone,
I'm new here, I've lurked this forum for about a week and decided to make an account today.
I have a 1 year and 1 month old Husky, her name is Maila, black and gray coat, will post pictures later. The problem with her is that she won't stop crying/howling every day at 5:30am, she does it everyday and it's becoming a problem with my neighbors since she doesn't let them sleep well. Any tips on how to train her or stop her from doing this? Do any of your dogs do this? |

| Is there something going on at 5:30 that is alerting her? Garbage pickup? Someone with a loud vehicle leaving for work. I've been teaching settle to my dog lately. He barks when he gets excited. I get his attention, tell him hush. If he gets wiggly or grumbles is his usual I snap my fingers to reiterate but I don't usually repeat commands. When he's quiet and holds the silence I treat or praise. Biggest challenge is not getting worked up yourself and then trying to be louder than them to get the point across. If you could find out what is waking her and let her see it and that it isn't anything to be worked up about she may just give up on barking at it altogether. _________________ |

Nothing at all, the only noise she might hear is me getting ready for work but I'm pretty sure I don't make any loud noises. She has done the same thing since she was little and I tried to make her stop but couldn't. I'll have to do what you do and give her a treat after she calms down and see if that helps. |

| She may be getting excited to see you up and does it out of excitement. Does you being up mean she gets to go for a walk or anything that she might be waiting for? You may want to think about letting her out of her crate when you first get up, if she is crated, and take her out for a bit and then do your getting ready. That might help to settle her a little too. _________________ |

| Ours howl for less than 5 minutes when we leave each morning then they're quiet. (We know because our crazy neighbor a couple doors down calls the cops every morning to complain). We've tried a lot to stop it (running them for an hour in 5am before I leave for work, sonic noise machine, playing the tv). I would love to know as well, but it be honest there are a lot worse things than howling... But that's clearly not everyone's opinion. |

| In the beginning I actually resorted to a bark collar for my gsd mix. It quieted him down but didn't stop him. He doesn't bark anymore, but he still woos just quiet enough to not trigger the collar and that is what I am currently working with him on. He is a butthead. _________________ |
