| Doesn't sound like he's trying to be dominate. Just sounds like a puppy, doing what they do best, annoying the crap out of older dogs. This has happened everytime when I get a puppy w an older dog. It's funny, we had an older shitzue and then I got my min pin and he annoyed the shizue all the time then he got nipped a time or 2 and learned his lesson. Then he passed away a few years later then a few years later I got kiara when my min pin was 8 and he definately got a taste of his own medicine. Kiara loves to annoy the crap out of him, she's 2 now and still does it but now instead of my min pin barking and whimpy biting her they get along and play (which since the shizue was very old and grumpy they never played) he didn't have any social skills w other dogs and kiara FINALLY brought out his playful side after a couple months and he's not a little chicken when she plays w him. |

| That's a relief. Glad to know it's normal because I continuously worry that he will hurt her. I am a first time dog owner (just moved out on my own) and in our case we had Juneau the puppy first and rescued James the 2 year old from Jamestown just a couple weeks ago now, The only thing I have learned for certain is that James is VERY food aggressive and he tried to take away the puppy's food and she growled and he bit her about a dime size mark below her eye. So i feed them and give them treats in separate rooms now to avoid this. I don't know if this is something that he will outgrow or if this will be ongoing. |

| I generally don't intervene with my two huskies; unless it gets out of hand / too rough.
In time you will know when to let them be and when to jump in...and in time they will learn the limits with each other.
They play rough and sometimes annoy each other, but they usually work it out amongst themselves...bascially, Lola is the boss and Harlen knows it, too so that's how they work it out...she reminds him she is the boss (amongst the dogs in the house)...LOL |

| From my understanding food aggression is very hard to change. Food aggression is automatic euthenization in the pound/rescue when testing them to be adopted out (at least what I see on tv) |

| I would not plan on James outgrowing it; I would address it now and change the behavior. Is he food aggressive with the puppy or also with people? I feed both of mine in their crates (doors are open, but they have their own space to eat / won't bother each other). I also make them both sit and wait. Once I put the food in the crates they will not touch the food until they get the release command ("OK") - Juneau3 wrote:

| Thank you David, are there any certain things I should look for that mean I should intervene. Mannerisms etc.?
Brady, thanks for letting me know that I had no idea. I will be sure to keep them separate for meal and rawhide or treat time. He is not aggressive towards me if i take it away or touch it just the puppy. |

If the hair on the back of their neck stands up straight, If they start snarling instead of growling and have head down, if they stiffin up a lot, if one starts to wimper and the other doesn't stop playing, or if you see blood(even if its an accident you should intervene). These are just some things common to fighting than playing. Mostly though just watch them play normally and you'll know when they are fighting because you will be able to tell it's different. "You will just know" haha don't know how to explain that one but you will get to learn there personal behavior just from being around them. Hope this helps |

| Yeah...with a bit of time, you will "just know," but in the meantime watch for the obvious. Good no food aggression with people, but would definitely address the issue - ZoeTheHusky wrote:

THIS! Welcome!!! i hope you enjoy your pup! People just don't understand husky behavior... people think khuno is a mean dog all the time (because he's a "pack dog" )and then they realize that he's more scared of them and will run away from them if they try to pet him when i'm not around. |
