New Husky Mommy. New to the group. I got Juneau when she was 8 weeks old in January and this month I rescued a 2 year old male husky named James. This as all new to me as I never had any dogs before and I feel a little overwhelmed but love them very much! Very open to any tips and advice that anyone with more experience could offer

Welcome and best of luck with your two new puppies. I'm a new husky puppy owner too, so I'm learning at the same time.

Thank you for the welcomes I have A LOT to learn!!! My little one Juneau is quite the Diva Dog I am not sure she knows she is a dog at all LoL But impossibly cute and makes my heart melt. When she was only 8 weeks and I first got her the breeders did not de-worm her properly and she had a terrible case of round worm that we finally got over. My new 2 year old James has tape worm so I am treating him now for that and I hope Juneau cannot catch that from him as she is finally perfectly healthy. For those of you who have huskies or maybe even more than one, I am curious as to how Juneau and James play together. Juneau is all over James constantly like she is her big chew toy and for the most part James just allows her to do so letting out the odd growl. She never does back off even when he does show displease. How much should i let the "playing" go on and when should I intervene? Is this type of play normal? How can I know when one of them is actually angry with the other rather than just playing around?

It sounds like definitely it is just play. I have been around dogs my whole life and one thing I learned is you'll know when they aren't just playing. The mannerisms and body language change. From what I have read and learned from these forums is huskies play really rough also. This is just my opinion from other dogs. As I am new to the husky breed please take this as it is... I am sure someone else with more experience will post. I am excited for you though being a new dog owner they will light up your life believe me!

| Welcome! Puppies tend to like to annoy the older dogs, but i wouldn't worry too much with it, usually a bigger dog won't hurt the puppy, and will just give them little 'reminders' that they don't want to play at all hours of the day. Its like their way of saying 'knock it off now'. If you notice James getting too rough teaching him the "easy" command may help. I am a new husky owner as of three months ago, and everyone here has been so helpful when it comes to questions/concerns.
The worms can be pretty nastly little buggers, and most of them are contagious, so just make sure they aren't around each others poop, etc and that should keep the infection away. I am OCD about my yard, so I usually de-poop my yard every two days. lol Do you have either of them on a heartworm prevention? We use Heartguard, and it also takes care of the intestinal parasites, i'm not sure if it is ALL parasites, but i know it protects against most of them.

Thank you both very much for the replies. I am glad I signed up for this as I truly have a lot to learn about these cuties They are both on preventatives for everything so hopefully that will lend to Juneau not catching the creep crawly we are treating him for

Welcome! Part of the puppy instinct is to harass the big dogs in order to learn their red lights and green lights. If his withers stand up and his teeth engulf his own head, then I'd say it's time to pull them apart. Until then, dogs will be dogs, and huskies play rough. Let me repeat that, because when he starts playing back, you'll get worried -- huskies play rough! I wouldn't be horribly worried about it. Just keep an eye on them and if one of them seems to get horribly vicious or does the tail-between-the-legs measure, step in.

Thank you for all the welcomes and advice it is greatly appreciated. James our two year old acts similar to your 6 year old the only difference is that our puppy Juneau is much more aggressive/trying to be the dominant by biting his hears constantly and always bothering him.
