| So about 8 months ago my husky and min pin started eating throught the grass and eating the mud below the grass, not eatin the grass because they feel sick but like you could clearly see bite marks in the dirty from their mouth and well kiara went to stay w my aunt for like 8 months. She has been home for 2/3 weeks and she has started again (she didn't do this at my aunts) I don't get why she is doing it...I mean it's dirt/mud... And she only does it here in a couple select places and it makes my parents really mad and right now it's just a small amount but before she would make rather volley balls size bite marks and I would have to buy grass to replace it... I need her to stop, I've heard putting kyan pepper in places I don't want ur dog digging... Any ideas? |

| I hope she is getting a lot of exercise! . Now maggie eats grass not big sizes like kiara. She is a grazer, she does this in mud too. She acts more like a horse then a dog. Anyway, She needs to know this is a bad behavior. Now watching her doing it with another dog and you not stopping it is showing her it is okay. Maggie tries to dig somewhere else besides her dog yard or sandbox, I yell hey knock it off. I taught her this is a behavior I don't want. You can try that but if your at a dog park or a someone else's house it doesn't correct the behavior. Maggie is on this dominate hump craze right now. my husband grabs her and says thats wrong Maggie! knock it off. She gets over it. |

| Ya I'm bad at watching her in the back. Especially when she wakes me up early in the morning. |

Gotta be careful about how long you leave a dog unattended, even in a fenced back yard. If they are going to execute their master escape plan, they are going to do it when you aren't watching. |

| My dogs are BOTH major grazers! To the point that they pull the root out of the ground and eat that! I sit outside with them every morning (I don't leave them outside unattended for more than 2min) and all they do is eat the damn grass. I try to play and nothing. It's come to a point that the grass is disappearing! Very frustrating.

| Blaze eats grass like a goat alot... He also digs I believe is he digging for bugs or possibly snakes or Moles.. I think he gets a smell.. He may also be eating the dirt or mud.
LIke Erica said you have to teach her that that is not the behavior you want from her with out getting too rough with her.
Do watch her when she is outside.. We take Blaze out in the back yard on a leash in the early morning when it is still dark and in the evening at dark also.
during the day we will let him go on his own sometimes.
We have seen very large possiums in the yard in at night is mainly why we will not let him go on his own.
I walk Blaze twice a day for a total of 3-5 miles.. I have been trying to increase the distance for me. |

| Not quite sure I remember the brand name, but have you seen the toys that have puzzle piece shaped holes on either end, and you fill them with treats or kibble? I use that in Keeonah's crate and outside and it will keep her occupied forever. Rolling it around, pouncing on it, all sorts of funny stuff to try to get those precious treats out! It's how i am trying to combat her digging nature lol |

| Here's a link the starmark's website erica. I linked the "Fun Ball" cause it's the one I have for Keeonah. it bounces really well too, and Keeonah has a blast with it outside. Idk if I'd order online though, like I said, Petsmart has it for pretty cheap

| Sounds like what my friend's three golden retrievers. They like the dirt in one spot in their yard and tear out the grass to get to it. She hasn't figured out a solution yet, but I bet the pepper would work. It seems like they like the smell/taste of the dirt there and I would think some pepper would make it not seem to yummy! _________________ -Sara |

| Possible eating grub worms? I have a street light in one corner of the yard, that's where mine eat dirt. The light attracts the worms. |

| Yea I don't know what it is... Maybe bugs, kiara eats anything that moves and can fit in her mouth. I had this big kong ball it was really thick and I would shove a dental bone inside. I couldn't barely shove it in there and it would keep her busy for like an hour I don't know how she manage to get the bones out cause I can barely shove them in, but the ball went MIA I need a new one... Here's what it was... |

| maybe she's not getting enough exercise? i walk rocky every morning for 2 miles and when i'm home in the evening some days i walk him again 2 miles, but during the day before his walk he'll be in the backyard (i leave the back door open so he can come in and come out when he wants) and when he gets antsy he finds things, just things, random stuff all over the place and the backyard goes from being clean to looking like a tornado -- i'll have to post pictures of what it looks like after he's had a couple days of being outside for 10 min at a time to use the bathroom -- but he uprooted a little shrub and gnaws on the branches of a tiny tree or bush (im not sure what it is) we have outside lol after his walk he just lays around or naps |
