Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Living in Washington, it's only natural you love huskies! Otherwise, it's cougars...*shivers*. Some of you may remember my post about that sketchy breeder I was considering adopting a husky puppy from. After receiving a unanimous "no," I was then pointed to Andrea at Poku Siberians, who we were excited to adopt a puppy from. Unfortunately, we would have had to wait until mid-April to receive our puppy, and I was desperate to get a puppy for emotional reasons...I am a strong believer that pets have the power to treat emotional distress, and having gone through a rough time weeks prior to communicating with Andrea, I needed something to busy myself with. This wait time allowed me to continue searching for puppies, and I finally found this cute little guy! He was only 6 weeks old at the time, which as many of you know, is very early to be separating him from his mother. The breeder was aware of this, and offered to keep the husky until 8 weeks of age, but I declined. I fell in love with him - a mistake that many of you warned me about. Back home, I've yet to see or encounter any of the consequences of separating him early in his life. He's playful, generally behaved, and loves his crate. I was anticipating the worst from him, but I am amazed at how behaving and obedient he can be. We taught him to sit and stay at the age of 7 weeks, and he is slowly learning to use the door as a signal that he needs to drop a #2 at the age of 8 weeks today. Unfortunately, we still find #1s all over our floors. Biting the leash was also a problem at the age of 7 weeks, but now, he's grown accustomed to it and will only fight back if he wants to go in another direction - typical, and a habit I'm confident he will grow out of. Anyways, I'm sure I will be consulting this forum much more as our puppy grows. And as an added bonus, photography is my hobby, so enjoy the photos of Kona, our beloved Siberian Husky puppy and future companion for years to come! | Congratulations on your new addition! Kona is adorable! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword.
